![]() Hey guys. I'm a long time internet marketer, but I've always 'created' my own traffic, and for the most part I don't think my sites were even indexed by google and such.
But I had the idea for a new project, and I need to know how difficult it would be to use SEO for a very specific purpose. My question is, how possible is it to get your site listed as the top organic search result for a google search with the exact text of your domain name? (omitting spaces of course). For example.. Say I have the domain "californiacarinsurance.com" Would it be very difficult to get the top listed organic result for a google search of "california car insurance"? And also, what factors come into play with achieving this kind of success? Thanks. |

Hi, think I can help here.
It is very possible to get to number 1 here are some of the reasons: 1) Dmoz - Open Directory Project, will only list your title the same as your website domain! 2) Submitting your website to directories will use your chosen title that is a link, and also show a link for your domain that has your keywords already in it. ( = 2 strong Anchor links for your chosen keywords) 3) It is also important to have your website SEO optimized, things like correct meta title, meta description, keywords in the website text and utilising H1 tags. 4) A must is to have a very fast website, so consider using a dedicated server in the same country you are targeting. This alone will not ensure you are positioned at number 1, but does help for long term SEO. You have to do the SEO and keep ahead of your competitors. |

An exact match domain can help, particularly for a longtail keyword, but it's generally not going to be a determining factor for top listings. Front page maybe, if it's a quality domain; but in my experience the weight of the exact match goes down as the competitiveness of the keyword goes up.
