How many sponsors per website?

Hi guys,

I wanna know from some of the guys/gals who've been doing this for a while, what's the safest amount of sponsors to use for one website?

I'm caught between wanting to find the best content, and staying safe with trusted partners. I figure anywhere between 1 and 3 per site is good, but I wanted to get your thoughts.

Any feedback would be really helpful.

Thanks

1-3 sounds right but don't spread it too thin....of course test and test again.

I roll with 3 that sell consistently but always mixing in new that work within the niche to see if they convert

It depends on the site. I usually start with 3-5 per niche. If you have a site that covers only one niche then 3-5 sponsors should be sufficient. It won't take long to weed out the ones that don't convert.

If you have a site with many niches, it wouldn't be unusual to have 100+ sponsors.

That is not easy to answer simply because every website is different and has very different needs. For example with a solo model site, you may have to have like 10 sponsors because she has a bunch of great content on 10 different major sponsors while with a more general blog you might want to stick with two or three solid sponsors and focus in on doing what you can to get the most money out of those specific sponsors that you can.
