A couple of questions from a newbie

Hi there,

I am completely new into this business or more correct: I want to dive right into it ;-)

That's why I came up with a couple of questions I want to present you in hope someone nice will give me some advice.

My main concern is that since I do not want to collide with the law. Don't get me wrong I do not intend to do anything illegal. For a start I plan to start some nice little niche blog presenting some porn I personally like (by having thumbnails linking to a tube site or embedding their content into the blog).

Now my questions:

- Where and how should I host my stuff? What are good hosters?
- I plan to have anonymous domain entries. Not because I want to do anything illegal again, just because I want to get spammed and I don't like the idea of anyone know that I run a porn site. Any advice for that?
- What do I need to do to comply with the law? Do I need a over-18-warning site or something similar?
- What is DMCA and 2257. Do I need to care about this? How?

I know these are a lot of questions and I might end up with a lot more in the process.

Hopefully someone can and wants to help me out

Would very much appreciate that!

Ray

Hi, welcome.

For 2257, you should place a link to your sponsor's 2257 page. Every sponsor should have one and beware of sponsors that don't have specific 2257 contact information.

If you're using a sponsor's promo materials, you don't need to worry too much about DMCA but have a contact link on your site.

For hosting, I'd recommend shared hosting at Certified Hosting to start out if you're just making some blogs. Their prices are very reasonable and their support is top-notch. They make it very easy and smooth to upgrade if in the future you need to move to a VPS or dedicated.

Namecheap is a pretty good option to register a domain. They give you free Whois Guard for a year which is great.

Thanks for the great answers so far. What about those age verfication pages. Are they really needed? Some page do have them others don't...

Welcome! Check my Sig for hosting and some content providers to start with.
2257 link to content providers page.
Don't do more than 10 domains on one hosting acct.
Blogs are good way to start. Do something unique.
Don't worry about flashy design
Do something unique.
Don't forget to submit to google etc.
And build a new one every time you get a chance.
And don't ever stop.
in 150 years you'll rejoice in that $1.50 commission check from ppc sponsors!
And don't quit your day job.

I recommend Certified Hosting too. Had horrible problem with previous hosters, Certified are great.

Also anonymous domain entries are useful. I got totally overspammed if they displayed contact email to everywhere.
