"Porn" in Domainname
Hi Folks.
Simple Question: Does it effect your Rankings in Google, when having the Word "Porn" in the Domainname? Bet Google doesn't like this too much. Am I right?

The million dollar question. Everyone has their own thoughts. Nobody knows the correct answer. In my opinion simply having the word "porn" in your domain name is not going to affect your google page rank unless your site has nothing to do with porn. For instance try typing in "food porn" in google search. You likely will not find "foodporn.com" on the first or second page of results.
There are many great adult sites with the word "porn" in their domain name such as Pornhub.com and Youporn.com. If you are wanting to be found in search results that include "porn" in the search terms just make sure you are building backlinks that include that term. For instance "Teen Porn", "Porn Videos", "hausarzt porn" etc.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
The reason, why I am asking this, that I am thinking about registering a pretty nice Domain, which might have big potential in the near future. But, it has the word "porn" in it. I think, I might give it a try. Maybe I can sell this Domain in 3 Years for 1k ... or I wasted 30 Bucks :D

I got several domains having the "porn" keyword in their name and did not notice any issues with Google crawling them or ranking them.

google uses texts in domain name to give a lil bit of weight in results so you should actually rank a lil better for any keywords that have porn in it.

I would say no. Personally I prefer ranking for keywords. If I were to rank for a keyword like 'super sexy babes'. I would look for a domain name called supersexybabes.com/net/org.
Let's face it, the chance that you'll rank high in the keyword 'porn' is REAL small. You have 2 options now, target keywords like I explained or get a catchy name like pornhub or xvideos, get a neat looking site and advertise a lot. Personally I'd start out with the keyword ranking and once you build a little 'empire' you can do the advertising one. Hope this helps ![]() |

In the past the keywords in the domain added a lot of weight, now not so much. Previously if you wanted to rank for the term pink ladies shoes all you had to do was own pinkladiesshoes.com and you were 80% there.
Now the domain words do not count, so no problem having the word porn in domain or not. It will be good for you though seeing as it will be a porn site, always helpful to have a domain which return visitors would remember. |
