Technical Question with php handlers.

I have a dedicated server. The php handler is set to SuPHP and I just recently bought a script and it requires DSO to run. I have a bunch of sites on the server and I'm curious if anyone has a trick up their sleeve to get the script that has to run on DSO to work without having to mess up everything. I've gone back and fourth with cPanel and they say I cant enable DSO on each single account I make. And it is hit and miss with the information I've received about DSO being arcaic etc. My business partner who is a Linux system admin has advised me not to switch. And he's invested as he runs accounts like WordPress on my server.

ICQ... 654304629

Thanks

What is the script? Is it required?

You could probably scale it on a new VPS until it needs a dedicated server.

cPanel is correct. When you select the handler between DSO/SuPHP/FasctCGI that is the entire machine and you cannot change it for each account as WHM uses it for every account. Why can't you use SuPHP instead of DSO? Any specific errors coming up in your main Apache (not the account's) error log? Further, as myleene asked above, what script is requiring DSO? SuPHP is the chosen flavor for most hosts as it is the lowest amount of headache and overhead for servers.

Thanks for the replies. I bought Mechbunny tube search script.

Even though I think a couple of commands in root would fix the other website errors if I were to switch it to DSO, my coworker isn't having it. The dedi is an OVH machine.

The other day I was in cpanel and switched handler to DSO from Suphp. Before that mechbunny wasn't working. It had a 500 error or some data base misconfig. Once I did that it worked and I was happy. Then I get a message a minute later asking what I did to the server because I took all sites offline. I can't remember the errors right now I'm on my cell.

I would say keep it suPHP and the 500 error is more than likely going to clear if you change a few permissions (just never 777). If you would like some help, let me know.
