Opinion on a domain squatter
Just curious to see everyone opinion.
I am working with a recently famous internet celebrity and her name as a domain was picked up, so she is using the .net. We have found the owner of the .com and offered 750 for the name a well as a traffic trade to sweeten the deal. The site is currently directing to a cam site using stolen images from the girl, so the guy is profiting from copyright infringement. What are your thoughts? Is 750 a far offer? I don't need advice on what actions to take as legal council is on this one...I was just curious and want some opinions! I think 75x is fair...am I crazy? |

arent we all domain squaters in one form or another
I think it was poor planning on her/your part in the early days for not securing the virtual real estate. I think you have to ask yourself how much is the domain is with to you/her. prime example , didnt google pay 25MM for an app extension ? If you askme GOOG paid enough to secure the domain. |

Minimum fee for someone to file a UDRP complaint is $1500, which means (imho) that the lowest price to set on a disputed domain is $1499.99

First thing I would do is get that copyright material taken care of on the other site. Beyond that $750 sounds fair but without really knowing how much they're generating from redirect traffic there's no way to know if it's worth it to them.

DMCA or complain to the cam site to cut off his income, make a new offer of 500$, tell him the next step will be the UDRP

Don't deal with ClayM we came to an agreed price of 2200 and then he demanded 5k. If anyone out there wants to take a crack at KendraSunderland.com we are playing 2200 for the domain

As I stated earlier, that costs $1500. Tell him that he can have that $1500 for the domain or you will take it from him and he will have squat. good luck. ![]() .

You can pay what the current owner wants or go throught the hard way of URDP compilant and pay lawyer fees and it takes money and time.
