Page Rank Question
I have been trading hardlinks like crazy and my page rank hasn't moved.
How many sites need to link to you before your PR starts to go up? one webmaster told me that my page will definately be getting a page rank on the next update. How often do they update? I'm kinda new at this I appologise if this is a dumb question that has already been answered a hundred times. |

Just from what I got from reading the Google website it says that reciprocal linking will not necessarily help your ranking. In some cases it may hurt it. Your links on the other pages are not bad, but its the recip that will get you. Google wants to see you linked with "pages of importance" That are in line with your page. you should go and check out the "Google Says" page, for a interesting but dry read. All that linking may not get you ranking, but it can bring you fresh traffic. But what do I know... I can't find myself on Google either.

On the other hand. One thing I do know is if you want to make some money from your site sign up here. if you get any kind of traffic I gaurantee you will make some dough. Don't go for the per click program, go for percentage.

google may be penalizing you for too many recips too fast, they watch for a slower natural growth over time. Also your recips and inbounds should be contextualy relevant to your targeted keywords and anchor text. Read up on SEO & the google patent.

You may have just missed Googles update, it happened (i think) like 2 weeks ago. Probably won't happen again for several months.

Still... don't rely on Googles PR if it's about generating traffic and making cash.
I have domains that surely have thousands and thousands of visitors per month that still have a PR0. Studying your daily stats with a good script will make you more profit as working on a nice PageRank. Just my ![]() |

I agree with eppoclappo, i had PR0 domains for several months but yahoo and msn gave me lots of traffic, google isn't the only SE ;) And now i've got a blog which hasn't been updated for months and it has received PR4, stupid google.

don't listen to everyone that posts a response. if your site is new then it might take awhile to show PR... as much as 4-6 months. Google is slow to say the least. keep watching your back links by checking link pop... there are many online tools to check link pop including the one on my site (Link Pop Check). Alternatively, you should use a tool that checks that your link trades are still linking to you (recip checking). I have one available for sale on my site and there are a few free ones available (I can't remember their names but there is a current thread about it on this forum). You can also check Alexa Rank, Links and PageRank for multiple urls using my Bulk Alexa Check tool. The Link Pop and Alexa Check are free tools that anyone can use.
