Can I get your opinion?

This link is barely porn related but I hoped I could get some feedback on my design and layout from one webmaster to another.

All comments are welcome. If you think this project is weak feel free to speak your mind as I respect opinion of GFY's viewers and I am not looking for anyone to sugar-coat their response.

thanks for your help!

the form was something I cut out from another site for design purposes, I plan on adding a horizontal logo inplace of the simple text over the form. then once i have it filled out in html and not just a big jpg it should come together. thanks for the feedback

Not edgy enough for something called riot radio. It looks "hard" with all the steel tiles and all, but hardly anything related to music and art.

The header/banner is a mess too. Looks like a collage when all you need is something eye-catching that sends a message.

I looked at the original site too. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too 80's. So many ways of using skulls but still make it modern.

My advice? (and I swear I should be charging for it, but I know a lot of people helped me out for free before, so I'm simply paying it forward)

1) Stick to grays, but use more subtle textures, and use contrasting shades of gray to highlight and demote certain parts of the site. GFY's own forum comes to mind (but the GFY.com in the background wont suit a site like riot radio)

2) You need to use vectors. Or if not, use silhouttes instead of beveled images. Learn how to use proper light and shadow for separation as well. You need to decide on what should be the focal point of the image (in this case, the logo), and then build around it, not throw everything on top of it.

3) Look at modern fashion websites and look at the graphic images they use on the male shirts. A lot of these can be used as extra details to enhance your borders. Fading them then adding some scratches and colorizing them to match the theme wouldn't hurt.

4) Since you're using grays as the predominant color, use striking "hot" colors to bring out certain key parts of the site. Hot yellows, reds, oranges, and greens come to mind. Again, look at GFY.com's use of lamborghini yellow + grays.

5) "It's not how many notes there are in the song, or how fast you hit them; what matters is where you put them, and when." - George Harrison. This applies to design as well.

Good luck. Hope I helped.
