Hi, I am a web developer, and one of my clients has asked me to research into feasibility for a project. I have been recommended this forum ...

I cannot give too much detail away, but essentially the site will be a top site and needs to make money from advertising. The site does have a unique selling point, but unformtunately I cannot divulge.

Anyway, for this site to work effectively we will need a lot of advertisers (10,000-15,000 at a guess). We will also need a lot of visitors in order to get the advertisers.

Not wanting to SPAM people, we were thinking of driving people to the site via banners on other top sites like theHun (if the price is right), or maybe banner exchanges.

The site needs to "hit the ground running" and therefore not build up over time, we will need lots of visitors wihin a month of it starting as we cannot get advertisiers without browsers and we cannot get browsers without advertisers (being a topsite).

My questions:

1. Is it difficult to break into the adult market like this?
2. What would be a good way of reaching adult webmasters to ask them to advertise (without spamming)
3. Any adult webmasters here care to tell me what sort of money they spend on advertising, and how many impressions/clicks they would expect to gain from this? Also, are you guys tempted by new ideas, or stuck in your ways with "classic" advertising and companies?
4. So that the site is more "attractive" to users, I was thinking of ensuring all adverts/links have a free gallery, does this make things much harder to administer or advertise?
5. If we place an advert on another top site, what one would you recommend? And any idea of cost -vs- clicks (as a very rough guide)

Anything else I'm missing? Your help is appreciated
