i-frames.. evil?

I've noticed a few sponsers / tgp's prohibit dealing with sites that use iframes.

Are they evil? why?

i avoid to use iframes...but there is no problem with them.. Search engines consider iframes that are not part from your site

Iframes are being phased out from use altogether. They're too much like old school frames. You can get similar results to iframes by using things like divs with auto overflow

IFrames are most frequently used to load code from different sites, like ads and such. Sometimes the loaded code is malicious, and there's no way to check since the source of the iframe is generally dynamically generated content. Most TGP owners won't allow them in galleries they link to, and my own adult search engine ignores any galleries containing them.

As cartelcash mentioned, there are better methods of doing frame-based layouts; the main reason people still use them is include something malicious in an otherwise TGP-friendly gallery. Just avoid them

One benefit iframes gave long ago was the ability to refresh content within a web page without reloading the entire page.

With DHTML and the ever-so-popular Ajax, the use for iframes sort of disappeared.

iframes are great for regular sites though, although yes, they've been superceded by newer features in HTML 4.

I would like to see them get rid of it, it seems to be used primarily for malicious code now a days.
