flv conversion script
Anyone have a script that converts wmv/mpg/avi to flv? Is this a pretty demanding task on the server?

Yes, this kinda task demand a huge server resource, I recommend you, that made the convertion on your desktop machine and then upload to your server

there's a reason most online flash video hosting sites prefer short vids (couple of minutes) and compress to a constant bitrate (CBR)... flash encoding is demanding like there is no tomorrow.
Even encoding on your PC will take hours.. truly |

A quality flv encoding for a full-length DVD movie @ 1 mbps bitrate and 640x480 resolution could take up to a day.

Constant bitrate is what you need for streaming FLVs. Leave the VBR for offline Flash video files.
