Just switched to PC from MAC (need dvd player help)

My mac melted down after 4 years of use. Until i can get another mac..I had to temporarily move all my files and install all my apps on my PC which is normally used for gaming.

Windows is driving me insane.

I have one thing that keeps me going through the day that i can't seem to make work on the PC....

I like to watch DVD movies all day long while i work in photoshop and dreamweaver. On the mac i'd just keep the dvd player app open in a small window in the corner... and it would always just be there no matter what app i was in.

But with Windows you can't see your desktop behind your app (if the app is maximized) like you can on the mac. For example photoshop, dreamwever, etc all lock you into their interface and your desktop is not visible through them.

Am i just overlooking something stupid? How can i make these apps show my desktop so its in the background?

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks!!!

the "restore down" button should help you with that, but you will be forfeiting some work space. You'll need to resize the window and put the DVD player in the empty space.

personally when I do that I hook up another monitor to my laptop's VGA port and extend my desktop onto it, then I can just drag the player onto the second screen. (MACs do this too, but...)

anyway, it's this one:

There are other solutions, but I'll not get into it now without a little quid-pro-quo in the form of some design help.

I got that... but i need all the workspace i can get I guess the only way to do this on a pc is with dual monitors. Fuckity fuck. What the hell did they make these apps not have the desktop see through behind it? its gay...

i somtimes have text files with instructions on them i like to look at when building stuff without having to hit the window tab on the bottom of windows everytime.

windows sux.

The DVD-program should have an "always on top" option. Media Player has it, for sure...
