![]() I've been looking for a girl to shoot content of for her own website and stumbled across this SUPER hot chick from craigslist that sent me pics of her watermarked with what looked like it could be her site...
Ended up chatting with her on the phone about it and she explained to me that these people were trying to build her a paysite, shooting her content but haven't made a ton of progress with it and she's lost patience with it. So I offered to meet with her to discuss where we were both at and what we both wanted to achieve from it. I basically told her I would front the money to build it and get it going and all I would need her to do is be vigilant on doing updates and getting the initial content shot. From the sounds of it, things are going to work out - My question is... The people she has been modeling for have about 10 pics/vid sets, quality I'm unsure of as I've only seen a couple pic samples. As far as I know she doesn't have a contract. They own the her domain name, have SOMETHING up there but it's very basic, a couple of pics and just says "coming soon." What do I need to know before dealing with these people if it works out and we decide to work together? Should I attempt to buy the domain from them and the content if it's quality or should I just start all over? I can usually get a couple hundred usable photos out of 30 minutes of shooting so I'm not super concerned with the time aspect but I don't want to waste time reshooting content when I can start out ahead by buying theirs - just don't want to have them give me some inflated number to start with. Any help or advice on the subject would be appreciated as I'm taking this on as a personal project in conjunction with producing content for other people as a time filler and another source of income. |

You need to be REAL careful..
And speak with an attorney before you do anything.

In my own humble opinion, you should NOT use any work from any previous company or provider. Find your own photographer and videographer to create new content, a new brand and a new name. She probably does not have an exclusive contract, and even if so, it probably could not be enforced sine the company never launched the website or probably ever paid her. Be careful of what deal you make with the talent. Do you really have the ability to make the money you are saying? Do you have the traffic, the sites to promote and the ability to sell clips or DVD's? Realize that lots of hot girls who have been put out of work are turning to the Net seeking to get rich by taking off their clothes. Honestly, the pay for porn girls has dropped given the flood of girls out there. I am paying $35/hour for softcore and $75/h for hardcore and the girls thank me for the work! Even with that, traffic on my sites is light and sales are way down! |

First you need to determine if she has a contract. Girls lie, unfortunately so you really need to do this above board.
If she is definitely going with you, then you need to contact the current owners of the site and inquire if she is under contract. If she is, you might be out of luck. If not, then you need to decide who owns the domain - her or them. If they named her - they own it. If she was using it before the site then they need to return it. Good-luck. Probably better to start from scratch and shoot everything new and rename her. Also make sure you have all the model releases, 2257 docs, IC agreements and work for hires in place for everything. |

I agree, if you want to go it alone with her -START FRESH. Get her a new name a new domain and your own content. The most important thing is to find out 100% if she has a contract in place or not.
