New in porn. Help with conversions

I read that a good and easy way to make money in online porn is to buy banners from some media network, and link it directly to one of the porn sites that you have an affiliation with. So, basically, you dont even need a website to get started. Is that true? What are the pros and cons of doing that?

I have the feeling that if you do that, you are giving the user one unique chance to see one piece of content... but since porn sites say "Our conversion ratio is 1/xxx" I thought, well... if I buy xxx clicks I should get a conversion. Right? or am i way off?

Thanks

aic

You're exactly right. In fact, that's how a lot of us make a living. Hurry and buy up as many banner spots as you can and reap the profits. Adult is EASY MONEY!

It was complete sarcasm. If traffic converts, it isn't for sale. People don't click on banners anymore either. Banner CTRs are frequently in the .00X range.

So, if good converting traffic is not for sale, then how do you get traffic to your site? Do people rely on search engine traffic? and adding their URLs to a bunch of directories? Im under the impression that traffic to most adult sites is purchased and shared. Not the case?

Here's the low down. Me and my best friend are very savvy web developers. We both have extensive experience in building software applications and SEO. But we are missing quite a bit on the adult affiliate industry and we want to get started. So, let's say I have a site ready to be promoted. Where do I get my traffic? Where do you guys usually start of?

I know Im asking the million dollar question that took you years to figure out... but any help would be great.

First question is what are you bringing to the table?

What REAL content, opinions, humor, pictures do YOU have that will interest an audience?

Add to that materials from sponsors that sync with your original different vision and put it together....

Then promote your site on anything that moves in the internet....

If what you do is good the audience will find you over time...

So, you wouldn't spend time or money buying ads from adult networks? like adult ad world? avn? juicy ads? etc? Or would you carefully buy ads from there too? "carefully" meaning... good publishers with what seems descent converting (hard to know) traffic. Thanks for all your help, btw.

Hehe, oh that was a good one - made me chuckle. Let me guess, it was the "some media network" that told you this was a good idea?

You do know there isn't actually a dead Nigerian prince wanting to give you $10million - and that if you send an e-mail to 50 people Bill Gates isn't actually going to turn up with a cheque for you? You're really not that gullible, right? Right? uh oh . . mabe you are . .

OK, enough of my sarcasm. The plain and simple answer to your question is: YES YOU ARE WAY OFF. Don't do it, keep your money in your pocket until you have even half a clue what you're doing, which at the moment my friend, I am sorry to tell you, you don't . .
