simple edit the themes

if you want them on the sidebar edit sidebar.php if you want them in between each post put them in the single.php

use the uploader to add them to your database

but its a bit strange solution for regular users of wordpress, who know shit about php.
but it looks doable.

well its a simple way to add your banners that's how I do it

your other option is to get an ad server like openX ad server and then get the wordpress widget for openX

this is the way I am about to switch all my blogs over

If you have a modern theme that can do widgets, you can just put the ad in a widget (if you want the ad in the sidebar). To do this, drag a "Text" widget to your sidebar (in Appearances > Widgets). Then put the ad code in the Text widget. There are a couple of advantages I found of this method.

1. You can move the ads to different parts of the sidebar using drag-and-drop. This is nice if you're experimenting with placement within the sidebar.

2. Your sidebar.php theme file is cleaner without the ad code in it.

AFAIK, if you want ads in any other part of the page than the sidebar, then you do need to modify the theme php files.

As another option you can click add a "TEXT" widget (under appearances tab to the left on your dashboard) and then put your add a banner code there.

Oh ha just seen the post above mine and see someone else already posted about adding a text widget. LOL

teo: if you want to add them to the footer, for example, simply open footer.php and add the banner code. that will add it to ALL pages that display the footer (which should be all)

I also recommend the widget option, but if you want a banner rotating, you should look for a banner plugin on wordpress.org
