Affiliates

I am a new site, trying to learn more about the industry. Can anyone give a good explanation of a good affiliate and what they do and what makes them successful?

You've given very little information to allow anyone to give you any help. Are you a paysite looking for affiliates? OR are you trying to become an affiliate yourself?
Let us know which and we can advise you . .

I always look for the tools that they offer and than I give them a test run of two weeks. When I like the results I keep promoting them, when I don't..

you promote the pay porn sites and if you sell [make a visitor signup to their services from one of your affiliate link] you got usually 50% commission, there are uncountable of affiliates and pay porn web-sites, market total is about billions of $s but like i said share is like uncountable too. I have not fully into it ever but as i see from my experiences for years, who are patienced and for long termed are really earning as it is at many other markets too, good luck

The KEY is traffic. You have to have over 3000 unique visitors a day to your site before you will see any meaningful income.

Guide to quick start in the biz :

1- Register a nice domain name -- 5-10$/year
2- Host your site with hostgator ( click on my sig ) -- 9.95$/month
3- Install Wordpress as your CMS ( Content Management System ) -- free
4- Install Score-XML wordpress plugin -- free
5- Follow instruction in Score-XML admin panel within WP

And you're IN !

Once your domain name and hosting are ready, it's very fast and easy to step-in and earn some money each months.

By the way, welcome !

Read a lot of webmaster articles and talk to some webmasters online through posting on forums, email and through live conversations on icq / msn / etc.
