The Box was originally a Twilight Zone episode called "Button" written by Richard Matheson (I Am Legend)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0362478/

I liked it actually, interesting morality play.

Any historical film that changes the nationality of one of the main characters to an american in an attept to sell it to that market.
Any film with Jim Carrey in.

:thumbsup

Not a jim carrey fan? I like some of his movies.

Skyline looks like independence day crossed with something war of the worlds. And that dude that is playing the main character is a seriously shit actor.

Just saw "The Bounty Hunter" and boy does it suck. Anything with Jennifer Aniston I tend to stay away, but my wife wanted to see it. But after that, she wishes she hadn't

ShellyCrash 12-06-2010 08:49 AM

Southland Tales-

Fucking awful. I don't even know where to start. Pretty much in a nutshell they gave the guy who made Donnie Darko a blank check to do whatever he wanted and the result is a shit ton of famous people acting out the fantasies of a crazy person.

The Box might have been alot better if he hadn't added a bunch of shit to the story to try to tie it in to Southland Tales. That's how bad Southland Tales is, it's so fucking awful that it infects other movies. :Oh crap

The Happening (or pretty much every movie M. Night Shamalan made after Signs)-

I think Mark Wahlberg is incapable of playing a nice guy. He's so ill equipped at acting like a normal decent person, I think he must really be a complete asshole in real life to be so incapable of displaying kind or caring emotions on the screen. Besides the bad acting the story pretty much sucks, I can't believe someone gave him funding for this after Lady in the Water.. which by the way also sucks.

The Lovely Bones -

Another movie made crappier by Marky Mark's sappy over acting trying to play a good guy. I'm not a hater, I loved him in I <3 Huckabees, Boogie Nights, etc but this is another movie where he really sucks. I don't know what happened with Peter Jackson, he did a great job with Heavenly Creatures. Maybe because this was the film he was working on when he dropped close to 100lbs his crash diet left him light headed and confused. The ending of this movie made me so mad I wanted to break stuff. Fucking awful.

SykkBoy 12-06-2010 08:57 AM

Avoid 2001 Maniacs...
even if, like me, you love b-grade low budget "bad movies"
this one committed the cardinal sin of bad movies...it was boring...I love bad acting, cheesy effects, excessive silly over the top gore and all that goes along with classic bad movies, but this movie was just boring...the original 2000 Maniacs was a classic and the remake was pretty damn fun and entertaining, but this one...wow...total piece of shit...

LOL. The 90's were such a bad time for music and fashion.

When I think of the 90's I sum it up with the picture Rosie Perez shaking her ass to "Fight the Power" in the begining of "Do the Right Thing"

Every movie I see starts with 10 out of 10, then I go from there. Diary of the Dead rated a 2 with me.

1 for having zombies, and 1 for being a movie.

I still want to see The Town, will only rent it or whatever to be safe :)

Twilight doesn't appeal to me at all, so I will definately not be watching any of them.

The Runaways sounds terrible :Oh crap

I absolutely can't agree ( though all the technical "innovations" this movie is credited with were already done the year before in "All That Money Can Buy" or "The Devil and Daniel Webster" ) http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0033532/ it's still a good story...

Diary of the Dead was so awful. And if you can even imagine the remake of Day of the Dead was even worse.

The one with Mena Suvari? I watched that on cable while I was eating lunch the other day. Nick Cannon automatically makes it bad by default, but at least it had some zombie killin. Who the fuck knew that Mena Suvari has quietly been working ever since American Beauty?

The thing about Diary, is it was trying to be one of those natural, documentary style flicks -- except the people making it had no idea what is natural or candid. They had no business even attempting it.

Lester Burnham 12-06-2010 09:18 PM

Surprised that someone said Godfather and The Big Lebowski are lame. Those are great movies! As for movies to avoid:

Paranormal Activity 2: I will never get those 2 hours of my life back.

Knight and Day: If this script can get approved, any script can be approved. So Cameron Diaz survives a plane crash and meets someone (Cruise) who killed everyone on the plane but her. The next day she moves on with her life like nothing happened lol. Just downright awful (and didn't finish it)

The Man in the Iron Mask: I walked out of the theater.

Most Adam Sandler Movies: I just don't understand why his movies make money. Well, I guess I do--there are a ton of drunken frat boys in this world.

Evil Chris 12-06-2010 09:22 PM

Day of the Dead was OK in my book.

Never seen Diary of the Dead but I have The Zombie Diaries and it's similar sounding. I preferred Day of the Dead out of those two.

Caligari 12-07-2010 06:51 AM

day of the dead remake? damn, can't believe they even wanted to, the original was weak.

diary of the dead did suck but you have to check out "Survival Of The Dead" Romero's last film....pretty good, i would rate it 3rd in the entire romero series behind Night and Dawn.

other zombie films to avoid-
The Rising Dead (japanese, fucking awful)
Bio Zombie (japanese, boring beyond belief)

Anchorman was great. Everything else he's done is crap. Although him playing a half-retarded man-child in Step Brothers was so bad it was almost funny.
