I am disappointed in him as well! All promises (broken) and no action! But honestly I don't see how Palin and the Grampa McCain would have been better..

I'm dissappointed in Obama as well. He should have let this go on until the only voices left speaking were those holding things up.

Want people to pay attention? Let all the tax cuts expire and they're paying attention.

The GOP better hope that unemployment drops like a stone now because they went in to the hilt with this thing. Their political lives could very well depend on employment results that they can actually tie to extending the top 2% tax cut bonus for 2 years longer.

The Demon 12-07-2010 02:26 PM

You do realize that it takes months or years for unemployment to drop regardless of policy? Or are you just rationalizing?

here in America, the intelligent part of the population isn't interested in stealing from the rich. They understand that the real problem with America is the government wasting our money.

the dems moved away from class warfare because they realized it was only seen as a good thing by the stupid.

Coming up on year 10 for this plan to work.. plus 2 more coming right up. Surely in years 11 and 12 there could be an expectation of tangible results?

you're a fool if you think anyone (left/right/up/down) in government wants to spend less. its a business for them! its just a game to play morons off each other like whats happening in this thread.

please blow away. you're out of your depth. I KNOW government doesn't want to spend less.
do canadians just roll over meekly when their government wants to tax and spend more than they should?
most likely.
Americans are a different breed.

For the plan to work effectively, all of the other economic factors have to be in place. This just helps.

politics are a game and you're nothing but a pawn buddy. you can use your vote to try and change things but you should be old enough by now to see that nothing ever really changes no matter who you vote in. the two party system is a joke. decisions are bought and sold, votes mean nothing. you are out of your depth (and very naive) if you believe any politician has your best interest in mind.

Less than 50%(46%) of even repubs say they should continue the tax cuts for those over 250K. Only 26% of people polled said they should continue.

so what is your solution then? have no government? If it's naive to think that your vote is worth something then what is living in a system in which you think you are oppressed in exactly?

he's right in a sense about us canadians rolling over with taxes... they fought wars over keeping theirs down. We just pay more and more and try to vote our way into lower taxes, which is pretty ineffective to say the least...

My point was that it had been argued in this thread that the majority of people want tax cuts for the rich. This is simply not the case.

I'm more for a flat tax or higher sales tax and get rid of income taxes. americans fought one war over taxes so long ago it has nothing to do with who is living today. what are they going to do if they don't like tax increases? vote them out, ok well chances are the next people you vote in are going to do the same thing anyways. i don't have the solutions to curbing how corrupt politics is but i have to chuckle at those who think voting a certain party in will fix anything.

Yet again, you claim to have read what I wrote and then proceeded to completely disregard that. Saying "this is simply not the case" begs for proof that you don't have, other than a meaningless, unrepresentative poll. It could be the case or it may not be, you don't know.

I'm not sure who had originally claimed that a majority of people want the tax cuts for all to continue as I was just casually browsing the thread while doing other things. My original post came as a reply to and quoted 12clicks, not you, although I can see how you would get you 2 confused.

If you want to argue over their methodology, fine. Whether you want to believe the polls is not my problem. They may not be "proof" that you are begging for, but they are supporting evidence to substantiate what I said.

Silly douchebag, keep following the repugs until every fucking cent of public money is in the hands of corporations. Blackwater and Haliburton are only interested in drinking from the public wealth.

At least with Obama he isn't sucking corporate dick every day like Cheney and Bush, (only every 2nd day). With numbskulls like you willingly giving corporations and free market zealots so much power it's no wonder the middle class is dying. It's not wonder wages for the middle and lower classes have barely increased for 20 years while walmart profits skyrocket selling their Chinese crap.

If you had any understanding of the flaws in free market zealotry and corporatism you would realise the republicans are a dead end for the USA. If you own a few million in stock they are great, but build a BIG FUCKING WALL around your house because society as you know it will be destroyed.

I understand you want to talk with the adults but how exactly is your link relevant to this thread?

there should be no wasteful government spending. your example is an insignificant drop in the bucket.
does your link somehow justify raising taxes on the rich? go.
