If giving as a gift, I might go with the 15year old vs the 10 year old shown, or if it's someone really special - try to find a bottle of the single cask version

I've never met a scotch starting with 'glen' that I cared for.

Johnny Walker blue and silver label are overpriced and I would stear you far away from.

They're all good and everyone has their own taste and opinion.

Jameson is good, and triple distilled.
For scotch, I like McCallans, but there are many.

I don't like Isle of Skye or Islay whiskies. My own taste.

Older isn't always better, so don't think you have to buy the oldest fucking bottle you can find. A cheap and tasy scotch if you're just doing some drinking is Ballantines.

Whistle Pig Rye Whiskey, Macallan 18 year scotch, Gran Centanario teguila for mixing Don Julio for sipping. IMHO

I dont drink to hard stuff too much.

but one year I gave a client a bottle of Johnny Walker Black Label, He almost cried.

I tried it too but I'm just not into it

I couldn't agree with you more on basically all points (except the not caring for Lagavulin bit).

Nice to see so many Islay fans here...

xarizmendi 12-09-2010 04:28 AM

I dont know much about any whiskeys... but
1941 from don julio
don julio real
and reserva de la familia from cuervo are the best tequilas
and if that is not enough then go to Tequila Jalisco, go look for the small brewers and get a 30 YO tequila... thats the best.
then again, thats just me

Jowebart 12-09-2010 05:09 AM
