That is very possible. But something you might be overlooking is that the republican primaries are closed primaries so only republicans can vote in them. These would be the same republicans that voted for and elected as their candidate Palin backed Christine O'Donnell in Delaware. They had a low turnout in the vote, she only got about 30,000 votes in a state of about 900,000 people, but it was enough to beat the other republican contender. Of course she got crushed in the general election.

If Palin comes out strong and wins Iowa and then wins or comes in a close second in the next couple of states after that, she could conceivably knock out a bunch of the field just with those wins. When you look back at the last election Huckabee did really well and hung with McCain through the early stages and the bible belt because the religious right supported him and they were not very happy with McCain. There is no guarantee the religious right would support Romney (they didn't last time) nor Gingrich. If they decide Palin is their candidate she could make some noise.

All that said, I don't think she will run or at least she won't run in a serious manner. Running for president (if you want to be serious about it and actually try to win) is basically a full time job that takes two years of your life and a lot of time and money. She could raise the money, but I have a feeling she is having fun raking in millions writing books and being on TV and running for president could put a damper on that.

think about how a debate between palin and gingrich would look. take a breath, and then get back to me. :winkwink:

if she is put into power i suspect world war 3 will begin soon after

I watched Palin's Alaska last night on TLC. She had that Goslin chick with all her kids and they were camping in Alaska. Everyone pussied out and camped on a sand dune. Before they went to sleep, Palin said "Don't worry everyone, I have a firearm just in case bears come, we'll all be safe".

She is ear/eye-delicious. Good times.

That would do nothing to cut costs it would only defer the costs into something else.

It would look a lot like the debate between Palin and Biden. It would be a seasoned leader going against a woman who comes off as if she just got elected to her local PTA. And that is exactly what her supporters love about her. They love that she is supposedly just like them. Her shucks and gosh-gollies resonate with a certain group.

Chances are she wouldn't debate Gingrich one on one. For the primaries they tend to have those big panel debates where they are basically allowed to just spout her talking points.

The thing that could go strongly against her is that she will be under some serious fire. McCain, once he realized what he had done, protected her to a certain degree. Her fellow republicans who don't like her to begin with and many of them blame her as one of the reasons they didn't recapture the Senate will savage her. Someone like Gingrich could easily pull her into a game where she ends up always on the defensive.

I'm not saying she will win. I'm just saying that there is a scenario out there where she could win. And all of this goes back to the original argument and point which is that republicans do fear her. If for no other reason they fear her because in the last two elections they lost control of the religious right base and she is one of the few visible big names out there who has a strong influence with them.

Not hardly, Biden may be seasoned but he is not a very good speaker.

That is true. Now that I think about it, he went pretty easy on her as well. A lot of people said he had to or he would come off looking badly. I don't think Gingrich would care about that and he would go on the attack.

Regardless of the politics, left or right and all that B.S. Sarah Palin makes the last George Bush look like Albert Einstein. She truly is not intelligent enough or well-read enough to be sitting at the desk with the red telephone. That crazy woman will start WW III. Help us all if that ever happens. :2 cents:

What about Jeb Bush? Any word on if he plans on running? His last name might be a hindrance, but I think he is a guy that is pretty well respected by most Repubs.

Those aren't the best of qualifications.

A degree in communication, two books written after the 2008 election for huge money, only gov of alaska to quit midterm and Ferraro was the first female VP nominee.

The article made a point that people are worn out with the same old politician up at the podium spitting the same old obvious lies and bullshit. Something about Sarah Palin's ditzy soccer mom approach comforts specific people somehow. It makes sense. I mean, they can't actually be taking her seriously for any other reason can they?

She appeals to the soccer mom types and the men that like to bone them, which makes up about 1/3 of our country apparently.

I guess they give away degrees? point was, she is smart, she got one
She did write 2 books that were both top sellers
I don't agree with her quiting, but she did win as governor
Forgot about Ferraro, but doubt anyone will forget about Palin

Even if you were correct, that hardly makes her qualified to do shit. She was picked as a desperate measure thinking she would swing those that wanted Hillary and not Obama. She WAS NOT picked for her abilities. She was picked based on her gender. :2 cents::2 cents:

and yeah, they do give away degrees.

So let's compare:

Palin - degree in communications. (she went to four different schools if that matters to anyone)
Obama - Law degree from Harvard

Palin - wrote 2 bestselling books
Obama - 2 bestsellers and a children's book
You can argue amongst yourselves if either of them used an uncredited ghost writer to help them with these.

Palin - Governor who got elected and quit to make money.
Obama - Senator who got elected who quit to be president.

Palin - has a TV show.
Obama - On TV a lot, but no show of his own.

Palin - Won the Miss Wassila beauty pageant.
Obama - Won the Nobel Peace Prize. (admittedly not sure why)

So if we compare them head to head on these basics we have to give the advantage to Obama, yet that hasn't worked out so well so far. What would make anyone feel she would do any better?
