For what it's worth, that list is highly controversial. For example it's pretty much been established that a black man did not, in fact, invent the cell phone.

I also, at random, chose 'fountain pen' from the list, and the wikipedia page for fountain pen doesn't even mention William Purvis, the black man alleged to have invented it.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fountain_pen

I guess the issue is, black people HAVE been downtrodden in history, so is it morally right to falsify history, or at least distort and exaggerate black history, in order to instill much needed self-esteem in black people?

Complete bullshit.

Air conditioning was invented by a white man named Willis Carrier in 1902.

The rest of your list is also full of errors, but I don't have time for it.

the inventor of the handheld mobile phone is a white guy of Ukrainian descent :2 cents:

Latimer received a patent in January 1881 for the "Process of Manufacturing Carbons", an improved method for the production of carbon filaments for lightbulb.

He just created a better process for the filament. He didn't invent the light bulb and we don't use his invention anymore.

Lester Burnham 01-12-2011 02:39 AM

The fact that people are arguing over whether a white dude or black dude invented air conditioning is funny as hell.

With all that said, I've always thought that generally speaking, the "colored folks" invented the cool shit (like gunpowder), but white folks perfected it (so they could conquer and enslave the colored folks lol). Kinda simplistic, but works for me.

This list has been proven, conclusively, incorrect on many occasions. It continues to be pushed around, as fact, as a "feel good" list during black history month.

In reality, I think most people would be embarrassed if, since the dawn of time, this was all a group of people could come up with.
