WHY YOU WATCHING FOX? they just want to get rid of NPR because they want people only hear the lies of fox news and conservative radio.

Sure, that's the general assessment but it does come off as an insult so I don't fault him..

i cannot begin to tell you enough just how important this man is to everyone my age, and how important it is to find the next 'mr. rogers' for the current, and future generations.

imagination, personal empowerment, and strength is precisely what every country needs in times like these, and this man teached nothing but.

And spell check I guess, sorry had to say it no such word , teached? it's taught!

Key to better education is parents getting involved, I got hooked on Phonics for my kid and it put her way ahead of the other kids for years.

I was the parent that went down to the school and bitched out the principal when something was wrong. I know Rogers was a crusader for education, I never said he wasn't, just that I would not be letting any kid of mine watch his show.
Parents getting involved is the key to getting our schools corrected, if they did, the school bureaucracy wouldn't stand a chance!

The schools responsibility is to educate
The parents responsibility is to educate about life

Mr. Rogers is not intended to take the place of good parenting, but in a world where so many fail @ being proper parents every positive influence out there I view as a valuable asset to our society.

I wish every child felt special, wanted and empowered. TV can only do so much, but I certainly see no harm in Mr. Roger's message. He's empowering youth, not teaching them to be free loaders.

mynameisjim 02-17-2011 02:23 PM

The chick at least realizes it's sort of a joke. That one dark haired goon seems to think he's stumbled on the greatest discovery in human sociology or something.

Fox news caters to an older audience though and old people like stories about how young people are lazy and not as "tough" as their generation even though young people are inventing all the medicines and technologies to keep their old asses alive.

Rofl.. I'm only 27 but I'd gladly take the baby boomer generation over the shit that passes for the new generation today. LOL@young people inventing shit... Great job trying to mislead people. It's called progression which happens over time. It has nothing to do with young or old people. Only the new generation believes itself to be leet. Idiots.

If you view tax payer funded education as an insult, then that's your own problem. This great country should be proud that it can fund education for those eligible students that need the support.

Whoa, relax.

I'm just saying everything gets better. It's like those guys who think that old time basketball players were better because they passed the ball more. All athletes get better with time, all technology gets better, people get smarter, etc.

I'm not talking about myself here, I'm older than you by the way. I accept that the younger generation is better than me. It's just the way the world works. I think you are the one being insecure because you can't accept that the world will eventually pass you by. But it's the natural progression of things. The more you fight it, you actually fall behind faster.

Technological advances occur because of previous generations and therefore, have little to do with the current generation. Technology has become a double edged sword. People are a lot less intelligent than they used to be because they have wikipedia to look up all their crap and don't need to read books anymore. People are a lot less social and more obese today because instead of going outside and playing sports, they sit on their retarded social networks. Athletes might have gotten better in basketball but there are few basketball players today compared to those of the 80s and 90s.

But you don't have any logical assumption to say the younger generation is better than you because you have yet to provide an example that doesn't involve previous generations.

You know you are having a humorous day when the dumbest person on a porn forum is calling you dumb. :) :) :)

2012 02-17-2011 03:56 PM

my news is smarter then yours

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood,
A beautiful day for a neighbor,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

It's a neighborly day in this beautywood,
A neighborly day for a beauty,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?

I have always wanted to have a neighbor just like you,
I've always wanted to live in a neighborhood with you.

So let's make the most of this beautiful day,
Since we're together, we might as well say,
Would you be mine?
Could you be mine?
Won't you be my neighbor?

Won't you please,
Won't you please,
Please won't you be my neighbor?

I kinda always thought it was creepy to get positive reinforcement from someone that I never met. My kid always had her daddy's ear, I always had time for her. When she had to build a model of a dragon fly in 1st grade, I helped her build one with a 6foot wing span. She had a pony and rode in local parades, we were always doing things together.
I miss going to the shooting range with her, she was deadly with her M1 Carbine.
When a kid knows that they are unconditionally loved like that, they don't need positive reinforcement from any place else.

I still hear from her almost every day, either phone, skype , text or facebook.

do you realize that the kind of parenting you are speaking about is pretty rare in the US now and that programs like Fred Rogers was the closest many children ever got to real parenting. Being a good parent puts you in a position to downplay the importance of shows like his but for many his words may have been the only kind words they heard in a day

I can understand that, I had a good mom, she made sure I was ready for the world, that was her job as she saw it. I repaid that by making sure my daughter was ready for the world.
Hell most parents only have time to get their kids a happy meal during the week and maybe help with their homework a couple times a week. My kid was surprised I could help her with her trig, I was surprised I still remembered it!
But being a parent doesn't end when they turn 18 either, Mine is 22 and I still talk to her, never at her. I take her feelings about things into consideration. I just wish she would stop sending me messages in Japanese, I know she's going to class for that, but I just know she's making fun of something. LMAO

I had shitty parents (and watched Mr Rogers... if you could see me now I am sure that would be an amusing mental image) I repaid that by being a very involved father, always there for my kids and they trust me I am sure as yours do you. My 21 year old still lives at home while not at college and my 15 year is probably the gentlest, kindest young man I have ever met. It is weird looking up to him... literally, he is about 6'3" :1orglaugh They also grew up watching Mr Rogers. Fred was a generational influence in our house. That is why what Fox News said was so damned disgusting, they carelessly spew out filth about something that had a very good effect on people.

Hell I used to joke about my sweater and wont you be my friend like everyone else I knew, but I always had the utmost respect for that guy

Getting involved with your kids is it's own reward, thats a givin to anyone that has done it. 6'3" at 15, damn, I didn't hit that height till I was 19.
When I watched the opinion peice, my thoughts were that they were raising questions, probably started from some study on human behavior and I don't trust those much. Remember when they said eggs were bad for us, now it's ok, in moderation , studies keep changing, like that movie where Woody Allen woke up in the future and the doctor gave him a cigar for his health.

you keep relating everything to your life, like its the only way or something. you can't even say that it serves a purpose for those who have none. ever think of what its like going through life with no one who cares about you? no one to love you? no one to tell you are someone special? no, you don't. you are lucky. unfortunately many aren't.
