BFT3K use to get into the debate, then gave up, I miss what he brought to the table. People get all upset and they can't debate without name calling and put downs, they bring it to me and get pissy when I dish it right back. I grew up before political correctness and people never told me I was "SPECIAL", so they will loose a pissing match every time!

It's a debate people, some people out there might actually have different opinions than you!!!
I've been called Racist because I said the walls in Iraq are made of mud, things have been said about my daughter that no sane person would say to my face. Talk about the pros and cons and don't act like the Pussy Democrats that ran away from their job in Wisconsin, what a bunch of losers that have to have the state police called on them to return to their jobs!

There are a few people on this forum with opposite opinions who are capable of making logical arguments. The rest like BFT3K just make everyone else laugh.

I still haven't heard anything solid against Mr. Rogers. Just because a parent would rather teach their child from their own example rather than let them watch someone on TV I see no reason why you would want this teaching aid to not exist for other parents who aren't in the same position.

I see the availability of positive and educational children's programing- especially Mr. Roger's Neighborhood- to be a valuable asset. I don't see how anyone could argue that. The fact is not everyone is there for their child in the way they should be, and even the ones that are more often than not don't know the best way to reach their children to get them to understand and absorb the values they want to instill. Agree or disagree with Mr. Rogers and his message, making programing like this available to other parents can only have a positive effect IMO.

Probably one of the biggest influences I had as a tot to be self reliant was "the Little Red Hen" where a chicken makes her own bread from scratch- none of the other barn yard animals will share in the chores of making the bread but they all want to share in eating it once the labor has been done. If you want to instill some "nobody gets a free ride" values in children early on, there ya go.

I taught my daughter about self reliance by teaching her to poach an egg in a microwave. After that she was cooking her own breakfast each morning.

We're talking toddlers here, I doubt you're letting a 2 - 3 year old cook an egg in the micro.... Oh, and you still didn't address the issue. :2 cents:

What a bunch of total fucken hypocrites. Isn't FOX the network constantly preaching about individualism, make your own your way in life, be the best you can be, and all that? Then they turn around, and actually blame Mr. Rogers for people's fuck ups?

I think she was 5 when I taught her that, remember it was a micro wave, but at five she was reading several grade levels above her actual grade level.

I have addressed the issue.
I sat down and watched part of a show, didn't think it would be something my kid needed to watch. Plan and simple. He came off to me like a therapist for kids, while some kids may need that, mine didn't.

I still don't understand how your personal decision that your child didn't need to watch Mr. Rogers negates his positive influence for others. :upsidedow
