Good start man. I managed to quit about a year after my heart attack. Been a couple years now.

Being from NY, you are also saving a shitload of money. What are they, 10 bucks a pack in the city? Crazy!

They were almost $16 a pack at the newsstand outside of Madison Square Garden back in December when I was there. Of course, the location explains that.. I didn't bother to look anywhere else once I saw that shit.

I quite 12 years ago and never looked back. I was up to a pack and half a day too. Once you realize you are a slave to it and you don't really "enjoy it" quitting is easy.

I quit about 2 months ago, before my son was born. I want to be around to see this kid grow up and feel great.

When I drink I sometimes have a very strong urge but you just need to fight it.

I can't say I dont miss it, but I would rather live...

seeandsee 02-24-2011 12:42 PM

i will stop when nature give me health good cig

CamJack 02-24-2011 12:50 PM

My Dad smoked 2 packs of Pal Malls for 40 years.

He did laser acupuncture and hasn't smoked in two years.

No shakes, sweats, or cravings, nothing.

My mom also smokes around him and in the car.

PS: Congrats...if you slip or go back, look into this.

Horny Joe 02-24-2011 12:59 PM

Good job, man! The worst is over now and it will just get easier and better. Sure, you will miss a cig every now and then, but let me tell you, nicotine is overrated! :)

$11.50 for a pack of 'ports on my block...

CyberHustler 02-24-2011 01:16 PM

Congrats Juicy.

I have a similar problem, at least a quarter of green nicotine a day. I want to go down to at least 5 joints a day. Dead serious.

I known quiting smoking cigs is harder.

jml23 02-24-2011 01:25 PM

Any addiction is tough...Just take it day at a time. Dont beat yourself up if you slip...your human! Good luck

I hope so. 17 months no nicotine after 40 years of smoking.

Juicy, just brass it out, the first 2 weeks are the worst.

MrMaxwell 02-25-2011 08:57 AM

You can learn all kinds of shit about why idiots smoke, here
http://whyquit.com/

I stopped smoking and got an e-cigarette
If you get one, don't buy the heavily marketed ones
Go to http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ do a little homework

Best course of action is to get away from nic, completely. And what that guy says on whyquit.com is true. You can be off for a long time(decades, even), expose yourself to nicotine once, and go right back to full time use.

John-ACWM 02-25-2011 09:55 AM

Congrats! I'm almost an year without.

saucygirl 02-25-2011 10:01 AM

Good for you! Keep it up. I used to smoke on and off socially for over 15 years and it will be one year on July 4th since I've taken my last puff. I was going to try the ecig but I reached a point where the smell of smoke started to seriously gross me out. Good Luck!

calvinawe 02-25-2011 10:01 AM

giving up smoke is hard for about 10 days, then it's a cakewalk. until you get drunk :)

This is so true, which is why I gave up alcohol until I felt confident enough to be around those drinkers and smokers. It's too easy to rationalize smoking when you're buzzed and your defenses are down.

michael.kickass 02-25-2011 11:23 AM

Keep it up Juicy, 5 days ain't much.

KaliC 02-25-2011 11:55 AM

Damn I need to quit, the thread makes me want one right now.

Good job man!
