Our condolences go out to his Family, may he rest in peace........

Lilit 03-13-2011 10:35 AM

I didn't know Dave in person, but still this is just shocking news. It's sad when people leave so young. After reading posts in this thread I'm convinced that he'll stay in the hearts of many.

My sincere condolences to family and other people he was dear to.

Rest in peace, Dave

LiveDose 03-13-2011 10:39 AM

Very sorry to read about this.

R.I.P.

lazycash 03-13-2011 10:41 AM

Way too young to go, he was one of the few that road the online adult wave to the fullest and made the wise decision to get out at its peak.

MaximX 03-13-2011 10:48 AM

Sad News - RIP Quiet.

Cash 03-13-2011 10:58 AM

RIP, Dave ...

StuartD 03-13-2011 11:04 AM

Terrible to hear... very sad news. RIP Dave.

RRRED 03-13-2011 11:04 AM

Just dropping in to pay my respects. Quiet was quite the fixture around here for so many years and I know he will be greatly missed. We was always so wise, reasonable, funny, and respectful. I do believe you can get to know someone online better than close members of your own family at times. So with that I can say that it was an honor to "know" him and I am happy that he lived life the way he wanted to and cherished every moment.

Rock on, Quiet!

RIP - time to reflect how Quiet affected us all and helped so many - too soon

boneprone 03-13-2011 11:14 AM

Life really is too short. Seems like yesterday we were young kids just getting into the biz and starting out back in those gold rush days. I was also in college at the same time and doing the same ideas and methods during the same era.. There werent many of us around back then it was a tight community and we all knew or knew of eachother.

Hard work and big balls really paid off back then and he was an example of that. When he retired in 2005 I was thinking good for him. Like one poster said he used his years in his 20's to really set up the rest of his life to enjoy... Its sad and unfortunate that his life was taken what I consider to be shortly thereafter.

Life is way too short. Seems just like yesterday we were starting out in this biz together. Seems like yesterday when he retired. Now he's gone.. He had a great life but its really really sad knowing how it was taken short.. He will be missed.

RIP bud.

is this real? its crazy...i remember him posting on another board recently asking if anyone had ever gotten an organ transplant over seas.

sucks :(

fuzebox 03-13-2011 11:17 AM

Fuck. Quiet was always a big inspiration to me, I really looked up to him.

wyldblyss 03-13-2011 11:18 AM

Beyond heartbroken. He represented what Canada was all about. Work hard, play harder. Live life to the fullest. Be kind, love your family and love the great outdoors. I simply can't imagine the grief his family must be feeling.

In life the best you can hope for is to leave a lasting mark when you leave this earth. He did.

you are a total idiot.

Sarah_Jayne 03-13-2011 11:37 AM

I just had the same mail. I wasn't following my mail because of my move this week and then opened that and my heart just sank. I had been thinking that I hadn't had an exchange with him on FB in some time. You know, it takes a lot for me to cry these days but Dave was worth crying over and boy I am going through the tissues.

Between him and ASM...phew...just phew

cosis 03-13-2011 11:39 AM

RIP quiet

Do what you must. You might have started the thread, but it's not yours or about you...

So I was simply asking him to not point out what is already obvious to all of us.

I'm sorry the truth hurts. Let's leave it at that.

Sarah_Jayne 03-13-2011 12:15 PM

He should be remembered as the model of why you should live your life to the full throughout your life and not wait for some golden retirement. I was always inspired by following the stories of his travels. 'Where in the world is Dave now' was a fun game to play. I will always remember his photos from the Olympic slopes..if something was there to experience he appeared to grasp the opportunity firmly with both hands.

I am going to go figure out something adventurous to do today that I would normally talk myself out of doing. I'll think of Dave.

Sagi 03-13-2011 12:19 PM

RIP Quiet

Icy 03-13-2011 12:24 PM

Really sad to see somebody die young, but specially those who worked their ass off and expended most of the youth working for his future while most of guys around him where just drinking, partying and doing nothing and then he dies when he was enjoying all his past hard work. Life is a bitch isn't it?

I never talked with him directly, but always had huge respect for his personality in GFY and read all that he wrote in the past, RIP.

Wizzo 03-13-2011 12:26 PM

RIP Dave... You will be missed! :(

Just reading this thread and seeing faces i have not seen in ages makes me realize why I once really liked gfy. It really was a real community for a long time. Sucks for a tragedy to make you realize it.

Definitely. Quiet's passing is like a funeral in a small town (GFY). A lot of old friends that have moved on have flown back in to pay respects.

Amputate Your Head 03-13-2011 01:59 PM

He was 3 years older than me, amazing how that really hits you. How short life is. RIP and may your family and friends know that you are at peace.

Justs reminds me to enjoy every second of my life, as you never know when it will end.

Really sad news. Never met Dave but just reading about him is enough to make me like him. I feel for his family at this time. :(

Quiet, this one's for you :glugglug

Magnus 03-13-2011 02:35 PM

R.I.P. Dave aka Quiet. DH text' me this news this morning, I was shocked like so many are with this news. So I thought I'd drop in on GFY to give my shout outs. I started chatting and dealing with him when I was living in Vancouver back in the day and he was a good client and good guy all around.

All my best to his family and friends.

Later GFY!
