One thing i would like to add but didn't want to put it in my last post, the people questioning this thread i can actually understand to a certain extent. Thanks to the "fake" Lightspeed thread which was posted on here a little while back. So you can thank all who were involved in that for people having doubts... :disgust

Bryan G 03-13-2011 02:44 PM

Very sad news. he posted more often on another board and was a very cool guy in his posts. I never met nor had any dealings with him but very very sad to hear about this.

Theo 03-13-2011 02:55 PM

He did a trip to Europe last September and we were in touch for meeting in Amsterdam just before the WebmasterAccess. Unfortunately, due to my heavy schedule I didn't manage to meet him. I remember he was with his fiance visiting museums etc and probably I didn't want to drag them to my less exciting schedule. Since Dave was a frequent traveler like me I didn't put much thought on this; I considered the obvious "next time" we'll happen to be in the same country. Regretted.

RIP Quiet, seemed like one of the more reasonable people around here.

This is the sort of event that makes all the fake death threads untasteful, as it draws question come the time actual deaths take place. :2 cents:

Agreed.

I've also chatted with Julie though so I know this is real.

Tam 03-13-2011 03:13 PM

This is very sad news. All my thoughts and condolences go to his friends and family and all who loved him and held him dear. Like most, I didn't spend a huge amount of time with him and never met him, but always enjoyed his posts.

I woke up late today and checked my email and saw it.... At first reaction I was like "bullshit, cant be real..." Then I logged in and saw this post and realized it was true..

Although I never met Dave in person (maybe I did back in the day but cant remember) but I gotta say he did inspire me like many others here. Too young to be taken away , RIP Dave.

Fair enough. Sorry for that reaction. So, used to putting on 'anti-asshole armor' here.

RIP Quiet. I just can't believe this. Way to young. At least he took the time to enjoy what he loved in life. So sad.

Seems that way. Very sad. He was respected by so many people in our online community.
I have seen his posts for years and years here and always thought how smart and polite this person was. Recently we kept in touch on FB and I got a much a better idea of his personal life and character. Too young... :Oh crap

Julie if you are reading this thread
I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you and Dave's family.
Hold on to the memories....

A great way to try to turn this negative into a positive would be if in memory of Dave / Quiet some of us became organ donors.

I'm an organ donor. I don't carry a card in my wallet but my primary care physician has a stack of documentation including my consent to donate my organs. I also have a living will and documentation regarding who can and can't make medical decisions on my behalf.

I know getting things like that in order seem a little grim, but doing so you can ensure your wishes are met and you can help save the life of someone in need of an organ transplant. Someone like Quiet.

chaze 03-13-2011 11:53 PM

Wow, RIP

AdultKing 03-14-2011 12:12 AM

I got this news in an email half an hour ago, so thought I better hop on GFY to see if there was a thread. There are lots of players but Quiet was a really great guy. RIP.

Have you learned what the cause of death was?

Good deal :thumbsup

I pray that all of us live to 85 or above, but if something does happen it doesn't hurt to be prepared for the unexpected. If something was to happen to me, if my life could save the lives of others I hope it might take the edge off the tragedy for my loved ones. My heart goes out to Julie.
