No offense to anyone but there was so much more to Quiet than stats signups.
Just ignore this comment, but it needed to be said... |
Bye Quiet. :(
|
There's not many that couldn't be inspired by Quiet... Made his money young, wasn't afraid to travel anywhere in the world, climbed mountains, snowboarded and biked down them, lived in paradise, drove some fine vehicles and could never be caught bragging about any of that. He treated people equally and thumbed his nose at no one.
I know all this, yet I know almost nothing about him. One could only imagine all the good things about Quiet that most of us didn't even get a chance to know. We will all here miss you, and only hope to know more like you man... |
RIP Quiet

It is weird what memories you get through your head at times like these. I will always remember when I first started to diet and drop my weight. He was so supportive in the background. I remember posting a year into it that I had gone to Norway and climbed up to a glacier. Something, I would never have been able to do before I lost weight. The way he responded to that was so sincere that it really encouraged me..in a weird way more than it did when I got other kudos. Then, the travel..I loved trading notes with him on our world adventures. |
So young :( RIP Quiet.

Dave and I just reconnected about a year ago on Facebook, we used to email a lot about a decade ago when he still ran Ultrawired. Fuck man, that makes me so sad. :( Well brother, take care. You will be missed. One last time. :glugglug ~Equinox |

Does anyone have a pic of him?

Did not know Quiet but would have liked to. Must have been a Helluvaguy!
Feel compelled to post this: John Donne Meditation XVII (Partial) "No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend's or of thine own were: any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee." Thank you for reading and my condolences to his family and friends. |

FYI: Anyone that was a Fbook friend, his girlfriend has left his page open for people to come by and make comments.

The Internet is an amazing thing. It allowed a thoughtful, decent guy like Quiet to touch the lives of countless people he never even knew were following his posts. People like me.
Back when I started in this business I read GFY frequently but I never posted much because I was busy, didn't think I had much of value to add, and well, the culture was a little intimidating. :) Still, certain people made an impact, and after all of these years if someone asked me who I remembered from those days on GFY, Quiet would be one of the first to come to mind. I feel absolutely terrible that his life has been cut short, and that he won't be snowboarding for decades to come. When the front page of GFY loaded and I read the title of this thread, I felt my stomach churn and my pulse race, as if I'd just found out about the death of a close friend. It seems strange to be affected so strongly by the death of someone I don't know, but only know of. Perhaps its a testament to Quiet, who stood out as a good and genuine person in an endless sea of cruelty and nastiness. In addition to the above expressions of regret and sorrow from his GFY family, maybe his loved ones will take some small additional comfort in knowing that he touched a great many more people than he probably ever knew. People who will be reminded that while life is harsh and unpredictable, kindness and decency can be found in even the most unlikely places, and they leave a lasting impression. People like me. RIP Quiet |
