Indian Chief 'Two Eagles' was asked by a white government official, "You have observed the white man for 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances. You've seen his progress, and the damage he's done."
The Chief nodded in agreement. The official continued, "Considering all these events, in your opinion, where did the white man go wrong?" The Chief stared at the government official for over a minute and then calmly replied. "When white man find land, Indians running it, no taxes, no debt, plenty buffalo, plenty beaver, clean water. Women did all the work, Medicine man free. Indian man spend all day hunting and fishing; all night having sex." Then the chief leaned back and smiled. "Only white man dumb enough to think he could improve system like that." |

Money isn't everything, but it almost is.
Once you reach that level of comfort, other things start to matter more. It's good to be young and hungry, much success is born from that and some would argue a necessity for success in general. |

Money makes everything more easy and your chances to be happy are much bigger. But money itself won't make you happy. |

I'd sleep on the beach watching the stars every night and hunt tigers with a spear no problem!
But in this society you can no longer do that, you need money to live properly. The more the better! :winkwink: |

People don't know that for sure... they just believe money = happiness! Cause E! says so!
|
It makes poor people feel better about themselves if they think rich people aren't happy.
Sure there are cases on both sides, but I'm sure everyone dreams of working two jobs and can barely cover the bills. |

I've been on both ends of the spectrum.... I've been miserable with lots of money, and happy with none... and vice versa. Money itself will not "make" you happy. It can make things more comfortable for certain.... but being happy is something you gotta find on your own with or without money. Anyone that thinks money buys happiness is full of shit. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. :2 cents:

talked to a dude yesterday who was 47 - cancer spread through his body and brain now -
guy was in his prime travelling the world enjoying life. puts life into perspective. point is no matter where and what life can be beautiful, horrible, tragic and profound all that the same time. death can do that. respect it like our elders did. |
Considering the TOTAL LACK of money is the cause of 99% of my stress and unhappiness I am going to have to wholeheartedly disagree that "Money does not = happiness"
I've lived both sides of the coin over the years, There were years where I was "rich" meaning I had all the money I needed to take care of ALL my bills, wants, needs and desires, at any given time I could go out and blow $2k - $4k and not give it a second thought, there was plenty of cash to go around. During that time I did not have a single care in the world, if I wanted something I could get it, ANY sort of issue that COULD arise I was covered for, but then thanks to VERY bad life choices and "habits" I blew every single cent and ended up flat ass broke and homeless. During those times, I was miserable, partly due to the fact that I KNEW I put myself into that situation, but more so I had no place to live, stay warm, eat etc etc. These days I'm just barely breaking even, most months I'm behind and I can say I'm deff NOT happy, If I had savings and the bills were all covered, or hell even a "steady" income I'd be allot happier because the stress and worry would be gone! Hell If I had just a few grand extra I'd be happier then a pig in slop cause that would allow me to kick off two projects that only lack the working capitol to get off the ground. ohhhh money how I loath thee! -Loki- |

I've lived a wild ass life in my short 35 years, I've pretty much seen and done it all, these days I just want to know everything is covered so I can relax and spend time with my kids and not have to kill myself working 18+ hours a day tied to my studio computers making content or chasing down invoices. Being able to load up the wife and kids and head out to the family lake cottage for the week, fish, swim, campfires and 4 wheeling and just UNPLUG would make me the happiest man in the world! Can't justify taking off like then when the bills are due or late. -Loki- |

I gotta say money DOES set you up for being happy. I know in the years when I was pulling in the really big bucks, I'd do what I wanted to do, buy what I wanted to buy, never worrying about money. Now that it's dropped drastically over the last couple of years, I gotta say it truly sucks ass having to worry.

When I was growing up my parents made millions and lost millions due to my dad trying to make more and not working out. I know alot of people who are paycheck to paycheck who are happy with everything as long as their kids are fed and clothed and are able to get an education. And then I know people who are very unhappy because they have money everyone wants a piece and their kids are spoiled beyond belief which happens alot around where I live in North Dallas. The High School has a $50MM Football Stadium for a 5-4A Football team LOL it is bigger than the SMU College Stadium and they think we need another one. The parking lot looks like a Cars and Coffee gathering with Porsche, Lambo, MB, BMW and Lexus everywhere in the student parking and all the teachers are older regular cars.
I sure like having money vs not having money but as people say "Mo Money Mo Problems!" People think I am well off because we have nice cars and a nice house with a Theater Room and my floors are Granite and Wood everywhere. But I built it because I can't go to movie theaters because most aren't handicapped accessible for me so I built my own theater and I did 3,000sq ft of wood and tile so my scooter will roll good :) But I paid for all my toys during the Mortgage boom which I was in for 10 years and had a lot of people working for me doing the same. People do treat me different if I wear my Rolex out to places. I can go into a jewelry store or maybe BestBuy and nobody will come and ask if I need any help. But if I am wearing my watch we can't beat em off with a stick it's crazy how the same people change. I had the same experience when we were at AEE and ANME in January out in Vegas. We were out on the west coast for 14 days and the reps in the booths treated me different every time. Some of the reps from StockRoom and njoy and Entrenue were cool no matter what they were nice. But some of the big manufacturer reps din't even say hi when I was in their booths like DJ and TC who I sell toys from them daily. The first time I turned my watch around and we went back by the very same people the ladies at the TC booth stopped us and asked if we had any questions LOL and not an hour earlier they didn't say a word. It may not be the same for everyone but in my situation with my disease people are afraid to come and talk to me unless they know I can afford to do business with them or think I can. I know alot of people stereotype handicapped people because there are alot of people who are on government assistance or SSI/Medicaid who couldn't afford to buy jewelry at Zales or a car at the Cadillac dealer but I am not one. YMMV |
