christianity, by definition started as a cult and any religion could be considered a cult depending on the acceptance of it as a "legitimate" religion. the russian and nazi government/army killed people, not the citizens themselves. so what you are calling 'secularism' hasn't done shit. regardless i am sure the citizens has their own view on religion, which they were forced to keep private.

Let me clarify lol since you seem to be mistaken about history. The Stalin Regime killed around 50 million if its own people. You can rationalize this fact any way you want but the point remains, secularism/anti religious groups have committed way more atrocities than anything in the name of religion, despite what you want to tell yourself.

Secular societies could have never murdered a single person and Christianity (as an example) could still be true.

Of course, there is no real evidence to believe monotheistic religious claims are true and plenty of evidence to doubt them.

yeah. i am not trying to argue what is true or what is not. i just don't buy that secularism turns people into beasts and religion is the only thinking keeping us from being animals. it seems quite the opposite in most casese.

It is a somewhat testable hypothesis as well. If true, you would expect to find highly irreligious societies wrought with moral / social problems and highly religious societies not so. That seems to fly in the face of the evidence.

What I said was in response to the idiots who claim religion is the reason holy wars exist and millions of people die, and I countered that claim with proof of the other end of the spectrum. There's no conclusive knowledge for or against religion and both sides are still going to try and argue like morons.
