Look at mainsteam affilate programs. Affiliates are lucky if they get 15% on a sale and it's closer to 5%-8%. And let's face it no one will be an affiliate of a porn site that is only going to pay then 15% on a $10 monthly sale. |

It's only not worth it to those looking for a bargain. |

I sell memberships for $29.95. No complaints. Decent ratios and rebills. Of course I have my up and down sales swings, and some sites do better than others, but I have unique content that people will pay for IF that is what they are looking for. Not everyone can make money pushing my sites, that's a given, but those who do well, do very well. I've also tested different price points and they have not made a difference for what I sell. And I still test different price points from time to time just to make sure I'm doing the right thing. Will it all change in 6 months from now? Maybe. But today I can sell my sites for $29.95. |

Edit: oh I see you said 15% of $10 not $10 on a sale, in that case, fuck no lol. |
I am now offering a "whack off now, pay later" option where the member gets charged only for when he actually touches his pecker. Brand new tracking technology that only requires a webcam. Hush hush.

I say something about the economy and I get attacked, LOL

LOL j/k Correct. I'm saying that charging less is NOT a way you can retain members. I've raised my membership fee by $10 and give my members better quality video and regular bonus updates. Not only am I retaining better then when I had prices lower, I'm making more money a month on one site then I did on two sites in 2006 at my peak! Affiliates like making more per signup as well and promote me more heavily. It has to do with the consumers perceived value. Prices on EVERYTHING have gone up, gas, milk, produce, everything. They expect things to be more expensive, and they retain much better when they are getting more at a higher quality along with that price increase. |

suesheboy porn doesn't exist to feed you. Sites shouldn't be priced to feed you. Memberships shouldn't be recurring to feed you. Sites shouldn't be shaped to feed you. You exist to feed this industry, if that's even needed. For 10 years the cry has been to every problem, get more traffic. Which meant more affiliates, more spent on them, more free content and worse members areas. The shit has now hit the fan. Customers choose not to pay for porn because porn's not worth paying for. Why don't sites up their members area? The cost of guys like you mean they can't. |

The reason adult is in the shitter is the affiliate program. For some absurd reason the fools who got online porn going thought they needed guys like you to sell porn. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh They didn't, but over the years by over paying them, breast feeding them the affiliates became a barrier to paysites, then it was needed. Now the damage is clear, over priced shitty sites, with a nice design in HD. :1orglaugh If every single affiliate got swallowed up into a black hole tomorrow, online porn would survive and do a lot better. Sites could be built to suit customers, content shot to suit customers, people working for the sites could work to help customers and there would be less free porn. The bullshit spouted by morons of "Try getting a sign up without any traffic" is typical. Ito them it means try getting porn sales without affiliates. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh Try stopping men looking for porn. Affiliates are a hindrance to sales. |

1. Paul doesn't care about his paysites all that much. He is retired. 2. Unless your name is FreeOnes, The Hun, or Pichunter...there aren't any affiliates with any juice left. |

--- Whatever Paul :1orglaugh Keep calling the entirety of online porn morons on an online porn forum. See where it gets you. |
Sorry to hear that man, well, porn is free nowadays, no need to pay, you will find everything at tubes, full length and in HD too. What a pity there was no tubes when I was teenager, I would masturbate all day long, each time to something new.
|
I bought bacon today and prices were $7-8 / pound! The economy has to really be in the shitter for me stop buying bacon.
Any bacon paysites out there with free content (free bacon)??!? |
Quote:
if u sell gay u can price it however u want because its still an active market. pricing in straight porn has leveled out. anything too high just makes customers jerk to tubes. . |

You and I must think it's a shame that the relationship between affiliates and sponsors was such a parasitic one with affiliates sucking off from sponsors. Over paid. Free content. Free tools. Free hosting. Members areas built to affiliates requirements. Affiliates dictating how sponsors do business. Over indulged. Basically shaping the industry as we know it. Quote:
Now one affiliate show you have to suck up to them as well. Never tell them the truth. They might get upset and not send you traffic. Is cybermike typical? |

But wtf do I know. I just like to make money, ride bikes DH, barbecue shit and fuck my gf :pimp |
It might be worth trying using a lower price point.

I see one of these threads on GFY about once a month... while there are a few people in here that know a couple of things... the great majority of posters in here are time wasting know-nothings. In my opinion, anyone that makes a business decision such as reducing their pricing by 60%+ based on a GFY thread isn't a smart business person... pure and simple.
|
The Adult industry is so completely ruined to the core that it will never ever recover. It will get worse and worse and much much worse.
I always laugh when I see affiliate progams giving away 50% of their money to people or 70% of their money to people... or $200 bonus days. Plus recurring sales? What the fuck is that shit? :1orglaugh Try finding stuff like that in Mainstream. Your lucky to get 15% of a sale there which is exactly how it always should of been in adult right from the start. Instead you had everyone raking in money like there was no tomorrow and handing it out like there was no tomorrow and now those ridiculous payout amounts are considered to be "the norm". And people wonder why the Adult industry failed....beyond giving away all their stuff for free of course. :1orglaugh They should use the Adult industry as a perfect model of how not to run a business. |
