Thanks. If rapture does not take me away, I will get some more up later. Just don't see the point if I am not going to be here tomorrow.

I am such a slacker. Anyway, after leaving the meteor crater we continued down the road and came to the Painted Desert. If you are ever in the area take an hour (at least) and check it out.

There must be a Seymour, IN too as I seem to recall spending the night there last week. We were in Pigeon Forge in '09. Very nice place to visit.

Headed towards Joplin, MO yesterday and had nothing but clear skies. There was a protest going on in Indianapolis today, so I circled back to cover that. After leaving Indy I headed to goodgirl's and actually ran into a tornado. They do not photograph well when as close as I was, so the pics leave a little to be desired, but I will put up the best ones later.

Tomorrow I head home, via Joplin as I was given some blankets to give to the Red Cross there. I have a feeling I will get some better pics by the time I get out of tornado alley.

Somehow, I neglected to take a pic of the rock. Pretty sure my uncle got one, so will have to get it from him.

Glad you are enjoying, and consider him petted. He got a lot of that today in Joplin.

Anyway, we eventually got out of AZ and made it to New Mexico. There were definitely some cool things to see, but Roswell was not one of them. All the pics from New Mexico can be found on GotBaddog.com. Here are a few samples.

BTW, that thing in the background that looks like a mountain, is a storm cloud.

That was diesel, but still. When I first took off I was surprised at how expensive gas was in the flyover states, it was almost at LA prices. One day, goodgirl and I headed off to Kentucky and regular was $4.29. The next day it was $3.59. Luckily, the prices stayed relatively low for the duration of my trip . . . until I hit Ludlow on the CA-AZ border where it jumped up to $4.89.

We live in a very photogenic country. Anyway, I am going to try and get caught up today.

By the time we left New Mexico we were starting to wonder if there were any storms to follow. Everywhere we went was windy and dry, Oklahoma being no different.

Here are a few photos from OK. The rest can be found at GotBaddog.com

baddog 06-04-2011 01:13 PM

So, we woke up outside of OKC and had only seen dust twisters. Everywhere I went was the wrong way. Of course, the storm chaser on TWC wasn't doing much better. I had to decide whether to go north into KS (which had no storms forecasted, and is not very scenic), or I could go into AR and MO (which had a little potential, and is a lot more scenic). I opted to head into Arkansas.

I figured out that most storms were later in the day, so we took the scenic route coming in south of the Ozark National Forest. Great idea. Very scenic and timed the storm just right . . . if you wanted to be in it. Not very good to photograph though.

Here are a few samples.

It starts getting exciting now. ;)

After an exciting evening in the Ozarks we landed in Lebanon, MO. The weather was now upon us. A few miles down the road we came upon Meramec Caverns which used to be a hideout of Jesse James and it was used by the Union Army during the Civil War. None of them realized what was hidden further in the caves.

Thanks. I use a Canon Rebel T1i. But yeah, the places are pretty cool. My uncle has a better camera and it shows. I think I have to upgrade soon.
