Paypal is a fucking joke and a bunch of thieves. No, they do not protect the sellers one bit. I sold an automated pool cleaning robot for $600, the guy gets it claims it was damaged and Paypal froze the money and refunded it once he gave them a tracking number showing it was returned, only problem is the guy only sent back 1 piece that wasnt even damaged and kept the rest, Paypal didnt give a shit. Another time I sold a diamond ring on Ebay for $1300 a week before Christmas so I could have some extra money to give my kids a good Christmas, on Christmas eve my Paypal account was placed on limited status and I could not access the money. The guy didnt complain, in fact he left good feedback, their reason when I called them was jewelry sales on Ebay are prone to fraud and they held the money for 6 months. They have been hit with class action lawsuits at least twice for pulling the same shit and every time they just settle and keep doing what they are doing. They make tons of money from the interest of putting peoples money 'on hold'.

He hung up on me when i said send it again cause i didn't get it and i was pissed.

Karma will get both of them. It's not the money that pisses me off, it's the feeling of getting fucked for hard ass work i did and i got nothing in return.

They tell you when you log in. My business card recently expired and they told me I had to renew it.

Here is the letter from Paypal i got today. All they have to say is sorry.. Fucked up shit dude.
Dear account holder,

Your recent PayPal transaction was declined because you did not have a valid debit or credit card linked to your PayPal account. Or, if you had already attached one, it might have expired.

Simply attach a valid debit or credit card to ensure your future transactions can go through smoothly. In just 3 easy steps, you'll be back to shopping and selling securely conveniently again. So, act now.

The money is not there anymore and i just got fucked. How does it feel? Pretty fucking shitty. It's kinda like i was scammed to some degree with a 3rd party transfer.

NO!

Although Paypal SUCKS, Paypal did not fuck you out of one thin dime. YOU fucked YOURSELF out of the money by not staying on your toes and adhereing to the Paypal TOS.

Bet you don't do it again!

And don't do business with Indians through PP as PP in India is all fucked up.

And get rid of Paypal except as a last resort.

Fuck em fuck em fuck em in the ass.

did you contact the client to arrange for an alternative payment

Jakez 05-22-2011 08:47 PM

I've had plenty of people buy a script and then chargeback, and there's literally nothing I can do about it because it's intangible goods and my only options in the argument are "proof of shipping" and "I've already refunded the buyer". Fucking bullshit.

GAMEFINEST 05-22-2011 09:07 PM

sorry about that bro

Although I highly disagree with and hate how much they side with the buyer in a chargeback, I can't say I hate PayPal because I use them every single day and I don't have to wait ages to move some money like I do with every other similar service I've tried.

Seth Manson 05-22-2011 09:54 PM

I've had a commercial account there for 12 years with no problems.

But aside from that, what kind of software did you sell for $250?

It was a plug-in that contains macros for linking to templates for one of his "business" companies, went to his little dashboard and had a few other Confluence features in it. I didn't have a visual image in my head as i couldn't see it with the finished product

Damn, never had any problem with Paypal myself. Been using it for years, just make sure you have a valid card on file.

wehateporn 05-23-2011 02:27 AM

$250 is a lot of money in India

u-Bob 05-23-2011 03:21 AM

1. make sure your paypal account has been verified.
2. avoid transactions that might look suspicious. So don't accept payments from India, Pakistan etc
3. Don't just give the other party your paypal address, but let them pay you using a 'pay now' button on your site.
4. when in doubt, trust your gut.

I wish Google would come up with a Paypal replacement to go along with Google Checkout.

Not being funny, but you think Google won't do sick shit with it in a way?

Did this actually address your query? Paypal support is known for form replies that are sometimes way off base.

Also, have you been in contact with the guy buying the s/w? Did he actually put in a claim or was it just Paypal that reversed the charges automatically?

My gut instinct has so far never let me down, but I'm sure someone will scam me one day.

E.g Someone says the minimum order is $5,000, but when I ask for a $20 test they bring the price up to $30. The person who takes a minimum order of $5,000 doesn't give a crap about an extra $10, so something not right.

I do not agree with anyone getting scammed but just to refer to your karma quote.

Karma happens to people dude. Remember the $100 domain you bidded on of mine and for a month I tried chasing you up and you kept giving me dodgy responses saying "what else are you going to give me" and "I will send the payment tomorrow".

Dodgy shit happens to dodgy people and sorry to say this but your the most dodgy person I have so far came accross on gfy:2 cents:

This is totally wrong! Whether or whether not your account has a valid card, is no matter to the refunding of another account! You need to take this further Marlboroack! :(

Didn't take you too long to return, is it going to be another few months before another one of your fake nicks is banned Justin?

I had no problem with the fact if he didn't want to buy the domain. He was the one who kept saying I will pay you "tomorrow, next week" etc etc.

After a few conversations with the bloke I wouldn't have trusted making a transaction anway so I am glad he couldn't afford the $100! Trust me if I posted full screen shots of our conversations people would be shocked at how shady the bloke is.

I only commented because he mentioned Karma, I have dealt with many people on this forum and he his the only one I would ever caution anyone to deal with. Not because he didn't buy the domain but how he conducted himself.
