Open-ended question. Some people have some pretty high standards. Doubt they would be browsing here though. But still even open-ended.

It's the most stupid question on GFY ever. If you have a price ... how can you have ethics?
There is so much money on the street .... you can just wait for a breeze to blow it in your face. No need to bend over.

Ethics and morals are not the same thing by definition or standard.

Morals are more of a set of beliefs, such as knowing the difference between right and wrong, sometimes within the context of a specific society or group - for instance, cannibalism is wrong in civilized societies, perhaps its acceptable in the middle of the jungle where the people have never seen anyone other than each other. Same thing with the a lot of laws - thievery, murder, etc - these are the morals a society chooses to live by as a whole.

Ethics pertains more to making the decision to act within a certain set of preset right/wrong manners or behaviours, and doesn't necessarily take into account the moral guidelines of a society. Someone with a strong work ethic, for example, could be a fantastic serial killer, if that was their chosen career. Someone with a great work ethic could be the best burger flipper McD's ever hired. Someone with a lackadaisical ethic towards work wouldn't be able to do either successfully.

Like many, that's a sliding scale. There are myriad things in my day-to-day life that many would consider immoral, and choices I make that the majority would disagree with. The moral and ethical code to which I adhere is my own, and I already know it diverges from that of most.

Whether I would violate the standards I have for myself is a question I'm not sure I can answer here succinctly, 'cos what I see as immoral may be something you consider NBD and vice versa. Every thing has shades of grey.

You are Only as good as your word.

I can;t think of a price that i would sell out for.

Nicky 05-24-2011 01:25 PM

I'll sell out cheap to any good looking(per my definition) 18 year old girl that feel horny.

SmokeyTheBear 05-24-2011 01:33 PM

depends on what i was doing.

it is morally wrong to spit on a cop, but if someone said they would give me 10 million dollars... i might have to break that moral arrangement .

dyna mo 05-24-2011 01:34 PM

i'd eat out of a dumpster if i was hungry enough.

moeloubani 05-24-2011 01:34 PM

the law dictates my morals and ethics

anything that is legal is fair game

mynameisjim 05-24-2011 01:37 PM

I was thinking about this the other day in regards to politics.

When you see a politician making laws to benefit a specific company or special interest group then look at how much that group contributed to him, it's usually only in the tens of thousands of dollars. Sometimes even less than $10K. That's what makes it so sad. If politicians were selling out regular Americans and getting millions of dollars in the process, I guess I could at least understand it. But they often sell out for less than $25K dollars which is just so pathetic and shows what sort of low life individuals truly are in the Congress and Senate.
