You're right. I don't. That's why I'm asking.

Assumptions? You post about diet and health nonstop, which is great. It seems to be all over the place though.

Is this program in line with the program you did a year ago and toned up so much? And then you posted about trying a new program where you did something totally different. And now this fat crushing program.

What am I missing?

I'm not hating at all, trying to figure out what you are doing.

He manipulates, but I wouldn't say to any extreme levels really. I'd say his base is always pretty much the same.

One thing I will add in, apologies if its been mentioned, but when you lower carbs, on day two, you start to lose extreme appetite. I know it sounds crazy, but if anything, I find myself sometimes battling to eat anything. Its funny every time I tell someone how easy it is to lower the carbs down. Its like a couple days that are a bit weird for me.

That's a hell of a diet... I would starve on it, shit I'm hungry reading it. Then again I'm not looking to lose any weight or cut down. :)

EDIT: unless you are under 5'7

missed this. lyle, martin and alan aragon all believe it's better to lean up before adding muscle. that being said, i'm 46 years old, technically i'm losing 8% muscle per year. but i've gained muscle over the last ~15 months- without gear.

how is it all over the place? a bit of education for you- the human body is wonderfully adept at adapting ;-), your body reacts to stress, if that stress is lifting weights for instance, it responds by growing muscle or getting stronger. after a period of time to catch up, that stress is no longer stress and your results begin to stagnate, requiring changing up the program to create stress again.

the same with fat. the body wants to store fat. you have to bust through plateaus by changing things up. ESPECIALLY when you get to single digit fat levels, it an entire different ballgame when you have 15 pounds of TOTAL fat on your body and want to cut that in 1/2.

have you considered testosterone? i have heard a lot of positive feedback about starting t therapy at age 40.

the anti aging benefits seem to far outweigh the lifting benefits. but, based on your diet do you think you have raised your t naturally?

i've thought about hormone therapy, my blood panels show a lowered test level, maybe some day. not sure if i want to drop $500/ month on test/gh though ! :1orglaugh

the intermittent fasting has been shown to raise test levels but i wasn't able to coordinate blood work when i started it so i haven't personally confirmed that.

I don't want to be less hungry, then I wouldn't be eating as much, meaning I would be dropping weight. I don't want to lose weight, I want to put on about 30-50 lbs, which isn't going to happen, ever.

all keeding aside, i just wrapped up 12 days where i ate fewer carbs than most eat for breakfast. this is not a diet to prepare for a show.

total carb depletion = flat muscles, no pump etc. they're there, just haven't recovered yet. :)

yes, actually kicked this all off ~15 months ago with 10 minute trainer, then moved to p90x, which i have done 2x since.

Yeah, I would imagine so. I would feel completely lethargic on a diet like that.

What supplements did you take? Any cortisol type supplements?

I've leaned out a tad over the last 5-6 months, but I'm nowhere close to being that lean.

Right now I'm 222 @ around 12.5%

I'd like to be around 205 @ 9-10% for the summer. I honestly don't think it's possible. :1orglaugh

A buddy of mine went on a epistine cycle, (prohormone) and lost quite a bit of bodyfat while still gaining lean muscle. Tempting, but I refuse to put that shit in my body.

hey, thanks. although i'm still waiting for the carb load phase to bring back some msucle fullness, i am not sure i did this part of the diet properly.

the only supps were fish oil, calcium, vitamins and bcaas. i'm with you, no gear here either.

i'd bet you could cut at least 1.5% off that 12.5% for summer, you've got the willpower eh. :thumbsup

achieved similar results by cutting sugars down to near zero, including all fruits/juices/sodas and doubling the cardio like you're doing. musclemilk 30min before&after workouts helps too. i shaved 30lbs off in 2 months

Same. I never eat fructose, that's the key. But for many people, they think its really difficult. Its like a no-brainer. I feel so much better, my focus is better, my energy, and I am pretty cut from it. I eat meat, veg, greek yogurt. I really eat the low-key veg that balance glucose and fructose.

I consider fructose a poison.

To be honest, I really have only ever cared about my stomach (core). That's pretty much everything I revolve around. The only change I saw was that my stomach got much more defined, although I did lose some on my frame. I definitely increased athleticism 10-fold.

In reply to the fructose, I mean more that I consider it that because of how it makes me feel. I can only have so much in my system until I start experiencing some unpleasant results, including stomach, mood, face bloating, etc. Now that being said, I realize what you are referring to...and I do lean towards "people shouldn't have fructose," however, I am not 100 percent sold on it.

What do I think? If more people cut down all processed sugars, they'd be well on their way to their goals. But as you know, that's just a lifestyle most people can't fathom / accomplish. It took me a year to fully realize what should and shouldn't go into my body : )

i actually think you looked better with your last pics. can you post a side by side. maybe its because you lost some fullness in your muscles with this last diet. i do pictures every 3-4 weeks just to make sure i am progressing. when i get to 7-8% i will post pics of my last 6 months. i have to give you some props because you are the reason i started the ckd and its made a world of difference. thanks for all your feedback and progress reports... :thumbsup

that's great news to hear you are kicking asses.

I really respect the kind of will power you have over yourself. To go down to in essence to no carbs and enter ketosis.

You were already pretty cut tho and at first glance you almost look too lean.

Do you still have to watch calories or as long as they are the right foods eat away like Atkins sort of says you can?

I've tried Atkins and even tho you can have all the fat, protien, cheese and fibrous vegtables when you cut all simple carbs you get crazy hungry but only for carbs.

The mind also has a hard time as the brain uses a lot of carbs.

But you are way more advanced than I have ever been. :)

i think that if you are not trying to attempt something extreme, like single digit body fat %, then once you reach your weight goal, you can eat pretty much what you want, but it still has to be within your total cals max. thanks for the kind words too!
