get back to me when you're 47, managed a disease that kills and debilitates for 2+ decades and we'll compare how you look to how i look.

Hmm yeah I am sort of socially retarded hehe so I am sure I make all the guffaws. :)

It is all about habits and making new better ones. I am on my way. :) As you get a lil older around the big 5-0 you realize it is stupid to be carrying around excess weight. But for many of us, we can excel in various areas of life (or not) but learning how to correctly eat evades us.

It is really prob just as easy as if you eat sugar or corn syrup or highly processed yucky carbs (which is what they are) that you get fat. Simple human biology. But noone really says, YES that is what it is. So we go along thinking we are different or maybe just in the fog and we nibble on a little junk each day.

Maybe just a chocolate bar, two corn syrup filled "fruit slices" :), a small bowl of pasta, a white flour tortilla at work and maybe we splerge from time to time and have a bad night and eat 3 bars and 6 "slices". This is enough to sabatage our loss.

It is going cold turkey that is hardest to do but maybe is the only real way. In fact it is the only way.

Did Arnold or Franco Columbu sneak a hershey bar when they were training for Mr Olympia? NO! :)

Maybe the real thing is you (I :) not you guys you're all in shape :)) have to get SERIOUS and not do it half way.

It is all about getting serious and committing.

Actually in Arnolds book, he spoke about how franco never had to diet for a contest. How he would laugh at arnold dieting while he ate bowls of pasta. Also their metabolism was on fire, they worked out twice a day 6 days a week. Most of them back then did very little cardio.

please take your misery elsewhere. not sure what your problem is with me, i've never come up against you but this is yet another thread of mine you've chosen to post your negative, zero-value comments in.

Great thread, motivating for sure and could help me to reach my final goal.

I'm 35 years old, and while i have always loved sports, and was once a gym rat, for the past 5 years i have dedicated most of the time to work, sitting in front of a PC for hours and gaining weight (fat) while losing my once nice muscles.

It changed 6 months ago, i joined a soccer team in an amateur league, I noticed how slow i was and how sore after the preseason games, so i started to run also, then the gymhaand then to take care of my diet etc. Once you start to feel better, things become easier.

In the past 6 months i have lost 20lbs with moderate diet (basically mediterranean diet but trying to cut carbs a bit), eating vegetables, salads and grilled non fat meat and fish and mainly due to increasing my exercise levels a lot as i said.

Currently I go to the gym 3 days per week, run 40 minutes 2 days per week and play a competitive soccer game once per week.

Now i'm stuck at my weight for like 2 months, i'm happy as the loss is very noticeable, i have also gained a lot of muscle and i get praised by people around me all the time for the change but i want to lose a bit more of fat so the new grown muscles won't be hidden behind the fat.

I'm tempted to try your diet in a month or so, to give the final push and to break this wall, to lose the final 8 pounds i want to lose to reach my weight in my early twenties but without losing a lot of the muscle i have gained in the past 6 months (plus i still need to play 5 more games to end the soccer season so i need some energy in the tank).

The ketogenic diets have always been my fav ones, some people feel like shit when cutting carbs, but for me is the opposite, the more "carbs hungry" i feel, the more motivated i get to keep trying. It's like when you feel slightly sore after a good training session (once you are trained enough, first days sore after years of not doing anything is so painful), it feels great, like that you have done your homework.

I will not speak to anyone trying to gain muscle weight, its not something i have ever really been interested in. I do however box, surf, and play basketball. I grew up my entire life with people telling me to eat a lot of carbs. But funny enough, I began to notice that the days I didn't eat, I performed better, and for longer durations. I am pretty much always ketogenic, I am 35 as well.
