That's the key, money enough to buy a big enough banner to have big sig and to buy the sigs. I would think it's almost worth it depending on how much you have to pay just for branding :)

For the record, we no longer allow banners with sound. We haven't in almost 3 years.

Also, a banner buy includes items on top of the actual banner:

Large sig sizes as has been stated
The ability to post more regular program announcements in the main forum

do your impressions show blocked ads?

Choker's system couldn't tell when an ad was blocked and he bills for those clicks. he had a good reason of course - you can't track if a browser is blocking an ad.

if that is the case with gfy ads, wouldn't your impressions count be inflated?

mainly i am just curious how many visitors are blocking ads. my target audience is nubes, so it doesn't matter much to me. maybe u can run a poll? lol

Are there people with blocked ads? I'm sure there are some, a small minority that has its own issues. Someone that willingly accepts and tolerates GFY as a whole and has an issue with a sponsored banner has more serious problems.

First couple months you start advertising on GFY you raise awareness on your product and service. Over time it helps you establish it as a brand. Maintaining presence is important especially these days where too many aff.programs die and services go bad. If you go and track the value generated just from direct click you have only captured a 5-10% of the real one. The banner clicks capture the response of the moment. What really an advertiser is looking for is the 24/7 established memory and the feeling we are around, we are updating our sites, we are providing the support etc

I think the point is why pre-check it? Why not let the surfer choose whatever he want the offer? Why not let it benefit those who actually may overlook it. When you enter a store online or offline, it is not like you have to take out pre-added items from the basket.

Using shady ways or not, it is no secret that companies offering extra high payouts also have to go an extra mile to cover those expenses. Or offer an extraordinary product - which very few still do in this business.

Short-term you raise awareness and that is something done at a small cost considering the effort it requires these days. GFY is a partial consolidation of the online adult industry, it always has been so, but it gets stronger by the time.

I don't see how my avatar will hurt my company. AVN owns GFY and the avatar isn't meant as a disrespectful way towards Paul. I've been a long-term client of his, I know he has sense of humour especially after spending some time with him in the past.

I can't believe affiliates still complain about prechecked cross sales.

Those that blocked ads do count as impressions, but as Theo stated that is a small percentage.

But banner ads are only part of the equation. When an ad campaign in purchased I work directly with the advertiser to try and make sure they are using all aspects of their campaign to gain their company the highest level of access to their target audience.

So far this thread has produced only one actual advertisers opinion, the rest of the opinions are fine, but they do not reflect the opinions of those who actually advertise. We have some advertisers here that have been with us almost the full 10 years that I have run this board, they know how to use their advertising and they generate not only a direct ROI, but also they have generated a full brand from their years of advertising.

I personally believe that it is short sighted of those who have no direct knowledge to say that it is not worth it, especially since I have watched entire companies build a solid business from their years of advertising. Now with that said, could you also build a solid business without advertising on GFY? Probably. Will your business benefit from advertising on GFY? Yes!

Ah well then I stand corrected. If a surfer has a popunder blocker installed then he never gets sent thru my system and thus never sent to a buyer and thus the buyer is never charged. In other words if you buy a popunder from me you get it. When I answered your question in support I was either confused, very tired, or just not thinking.

Until I started running a banner on GFY a few months ago, I prided myself on never advertising anywhere. I started running the banner here to payback GFY for all the business this board has brought me over the years. Without GFY over the years I would not have done as much business as I had, it was simply a matter of payback to me. I honestly did not think advertising here would bring any new business.
What I found is that running my banner kept my company in front of a lot of people. I got many icqs from past buyers who forgot about me and now needed my services, the banner here at GFY reminded them about me and brought new business. If you read GFY a lot, you will prolly say to yourself "none of these clowns have any traffic or anything I need". Well the fact is that 75% of the business I get from my banner here is from BIG companies in the industry that never post here. They read the threads but don't post. SO yeah advertising here is well worth the money. I advertise here and nowhere else.
