We figured out from when we were running linklists that it's better to have a little more comprehensive descriptions for both human visitors and search engines. Now I'm thinking about lowering that to something like 30-35 words if there will be more requests in this direction, but still I believe the more comprehensive the descriptions the better :)

mineistaken 11-16-2011 09:14 AM

Whats the minimum of posts per blog required? I mean like twan reuires at least 3 or 5 blog posts to be listed. Whats your number?
And +1 for lowering the description requirements to 30 words.

I'd say that something like 5 posts would be fair. Surfers should have a little bit to chew upon, I'd say that something below that would be too little and could result in a high bounce rate for the blog itself as well.

aless 11-16-2011 02:10 PM

New minimum descriptions length required: 30 words!

Here's the new rule as we have had it requested by quite a few submitters so far.

aless 11-17-2011 05:23 AM

Here's a bump for today!

aless 11-18-2011 07:11 AM

Soon we'll have 1,000 blogs within our DB and are going to change the rules a little bit. Stay tuned :)

Thanks! Today we reached 1,000 blogs and as I mentioned a couple of days ago, we're preparing some new rules in order to ensure higher quality of the blogs we list. Stay tuned, sometime these days we'll make them public.

pimpware 11-23-2011 04:43 AM

Can I add target="_blank" to the reciprocal codes?

V_RocKs 11-23-2011 05:03 AM

Well, if you allow splogs, then Google is going to look at your network as a part of a bad neighborhood. So going for the lowest common denominator of blogger is a bad idea...

LOL @ the people that say, "Hey, I just submitted.. Where is my link?" LOL...

I'll be back for more when I see your rules getting a bit tighter...

As for the links at the bottom... Do you have a trade script catching referrers to give me traffic back? Do new submissions push older ones down and eventually off to archive pages? Is there any system in place to move blogs up if they are sending more traffic than others?

Say I have a blog with 15K hits a day and I submitted it to your directory... I'd imagine you'd get about 100 hits a day minimum. What do I get if someone else can add 30 bullshit splogs a day and push me to page 30 on my category page? What is in it for me?

Ramirez 11-23-2011 05:10 AM

What recip link should i put on my blog?

Freedoom 11-23-2011 05:19 AM

added a few blogs, waiting for email with recip links

RandyD 11-23-2011 05:19 AM

Wow, there some seriously shity spl-logs on those directories lol

Freedoom 11-23-2011 04:58 PM

Still didn't get nothing on my email... Any update?

jollyhumper 11-23-2011 05:46 PM

Great service, thank you a million!

However:
In Safari I wasn't allowed to submit (it claimed it timed out, but that was a short time out :p)
I then tried in Firefox. Submitter didn't submit either :(

THEN I tried explorer, and that one worked except for one thing.
I never got the chance to make 20 unique description, so now I've submitted 20 identically submission, i'm not happy with that.

Are all browsers supported? Which one should I use?
Can I resubmit them?

J:)lly

Waiter 11-23-2011 06:06 PM

why wait for reciprocal links ? you can find them inside the submitter ... Just click on the category you choose and new window will be opened with all the recip links

VenusBlogger 11-23-2011 06:41 PM

I will tell the bloggers in my network to submit there.

Our rules have been updated, you may want to check them out. I will also add another post to this thread to make them clear.

Also, we're going to work on adding some sort of toplist on each category page, on the sidebar, to list the top 15-20 referrers! This would basically be the answer to your other question, but it is going to take a little as we have to integrate it with the current scripts.

Those available at the top of www.xblogsubmitter.com/submit/ - please read the instructions, getting them into your blogs is as simple as copy/paste!

I haven't checked in a while until yesterday, the system works fine for me with Mozilla FireFox, Chrome, Opera and Safari. In IE it looks like there's a problem with AJAX and the form won't expand to let you use different titles/descriptions for each blog. We're going to have that issues looked into as well, but meanwhile you can submit just fine using FF for example (that's what I always use). Yes you can re-submit the blogs that didn't go through.

We already got some submits from your network. We're also thinking of making a list of agreed/trustworthy free blog hosters. I will try to contact you and ask for a few details as you may be the first on the list.

aless 11-26-2011 02:23 AM

NEW/UPDATED RULES:

#1 All types of blogs will be accepted as long as they don't use illegal content;

#2 The blogs you submit should be of minimum quality and interesting for a surfer; we require a minimum of 50 words/post and at least 5 posts/blog at the moment of submission; Updated!

#3 We will continue to list blogs on self-hosted subdomains (sub.yourdomain.com) and free hosted blogs as long as they are of real good quality, interesting for a human reader; RSS feeded blogs might or might not be accepted; New!

#4 You can submit any number of self-hosted blogs on top-level domains (www.yourdomain.com) daily; maximum number of daily submits for blogs on self-hosted subdomains (sub.yourdomain.com) and free hosted blogs is 1 (one); New!

#5 Reciprocal links are mandatory and should be on your blog at the moment you submit it; don't remove our reciprocals after getting listed, our spider checks for missing links every 24 hours; blogs found without reciprocal links get unlisted and usually the submitter gets banned - so no chance to submit further;

#6 Submit your blog one time only to the best suitable category - duplicate submissions are not going to be allowed; Updated!

#7 The description of the blog you're submitting to our directories has to be at least 30 words long (for more details, pay attention to the explanation on the submission page)

Please make sure you review these new rules (also available on www.xblogsubmitter.com) before submitting new blogs to us. We look forward to review and list your quality blogs :thumbsup
