I'm already going thru withdrawals knowing there's no episode next week.

ReggieDurango 06-20-2011 12:04 AM

Episode went by WAY too fast :-(

fusionx 06-20-2011 05:46 AM

Where can I download these? I'm in the Philippines and we don't have it here.. probably won't for a year.. It's one of my favorite book series ever.. I'm jonesing bad :)

u-Bob 06-20-2011 05:48 AM

10 episodes wasn't enough :(

Agreed about the ending. I knew (of course) that she was going to live through the fire, but I did not see the emergence of her little "friend" coming. That was just too damn cool. I mean I knew dragons were going to enter the fray eventually, but the way they did it for me was unexpected... which I liked. TV series very rarely offers me surprises these days, this one did.

Definitely looking forward to S2 and am going to scoop up the books and get busy reading them in the meantime.

How long til S2 I wonder?

It said spring 2012 at the end of last night's episode. I've read that because of the popularity of the show, the budget and scale will be bigger next season. We'll see battles, and the dragons will be top notch CG effect quality.

they'd better be. The great thing about GoT was the production quality. If the dragons look even a tiny bit fake, it's gonna ruin the whole thing....

According to this article: http://www.ugo.com/tv/game-of-throne...season-details we may have to wait until this time next year before S1's ten episodes are released (to tv, DVD etc).

Re: S2 -- I see that each season is based on one of the books, and there are what, five books in the series. (I'm searching for them now and can only see five so far, can buy them as a set on Amazon.ca for $55 CAD)

The good news is there could be five seasons of this series on HBO. Ha, I love it.

At least one more book should be finished by the time season 5 comes along.

Caligari 06-20-2011 08:38 AM

This show keeps getting better and better per episode, imo the best "sword and sorcery" style tv show, and trounces most movies. i don't generally even like the genre but games of thrones is a different animal.
hbo is supreme for series.

Ned Stark's death is the monumental event needed to propel the story forward to "Clash of Kings". You're supposed to know and love him, then watch him die. It was a brilliant move to cast a well known actor for the role. Just because Sean Bean got a job on an HBO show, doesn't make him safe.

Great news. Although, with the postal strike here in Canuckleville I suppose there's no point in me trying to order them online now. :(

Might have to hit up a book store and pay through the nose for them.

its a good way to save money. :2 cents: in 10 another character that is well known in sci fi is gone. :( bait and switch! i think it stupid following the book cause the fucking nerds try to spoil it.

By following the book they save a lot of money in not having a huge bank of writers. In fact I just read somewhere that their production doesn't even have writers, they just use the book as their script.

Maybe that will save them enough $ to allow them to afford the higher end special CG effects needed to pull the rest of this off properly?

american pervert 06-20-2011 12:36 PM

I hope next season has more episodes.

PiracyPitbull 06-20-2011 12:41 PM

I was going to bin this from the viewing schedule after 3 episodes but, very glad I stuck with this....excellent series :)

There are 3 children.

Diomed 06-20-2011 02:01 PM

I was a doubter at first,

couldn't really get into it for some reason.. being that there are so many different story leads to follow, the first episode had a lot of ground work to lay down.. so I kind of tuned out.

But after that I watched the second episode, then all the rest on demand.

Yes, I am totally hooked. Pissed off it's already over for the season. Loved it. :2 cents:

(Great ending: yes, a point for each boob, and yes I'd love to see the younger daughter skewer Little Lord Fauntlefucker)

You pay for life with death. Maybe the witch was part of the payment for getting the dragons born. I'm not sure :)

Killing the witch was giving her what she deserved, but yes it may have also had to do with the life-for-a-life payment thing as well (as she said earlier).

Her husband was 'reborn' a vegetable because she (the girl) didn't specify that she wanted him back as he was, she only asked for him to be alive. The witch needed a life as payment, and seemed to make it clear that killing his horse would be enough, but then later it came about that it was her unborn son that was the life to be taken as payment.

SO... she (the girl) was suitably pissed about the witch's play on words and not delivering her husband back to her in his original state, PLUS the fact that she had to lose her son in the bargain, that was enough to send the old bitch into the flames.

And I kind of suspected that it was going to take a long hot fire to wake up those dragon eggs but wasn't sure until now. With dragons at her side I hazard a guess in S2 she's going to be kicking ass and taking names. Can't wait.

29 bucks on amazon.

Wow, I realized reading the thread that this show is from a book I read (the second book of the set) and LOVED, I'll definitely have to check into whether I can get this show or not ... someone keep me posted if it ends up on Netflix!!!

They went into the tent when they weren't supposed to and were warned to stay out. Can't remember for sure but I think that was why she ended up losing her son. i.e. the demons involved with saving Drogo "took" her son as well.

hmmmm... There could be more to it though given it wasn't normal.. She's "special" being one of Dragons.. Being like that, it could also be that she can't breed unless it's with one of her kind.. There was an offhand comment at one point I think where the Queen had told Ned that the old royalty (the line of the Dragons, Daenerys' ancestors) had bred within their own family to keep the blood lines strong. Could actually have been more than that.

Is that the set of the first 4? I saw that, and to add on the 5th book it brings the price to something like $55 CAN. I'll have to see if there's a Fedex or UPS option for shipping, because like I said Canada Post just isn't up to it right now.

Great site.

As for me I'm with Shaw Cable, they have a free section in their Video On Demand area, and in there there's a section for Movie Central, and in THERE is every episode of S1 of Game of Thrones.

I think I'll watch all of them through one more time while I wait for the books to arrive. :D

Rereading my books now...no way I can have read them all in time but oh well...I do need to reread them to be sure where the story is at (since it's been a few years since I read them).

The series is awesome and people...don't give up because Sean Bean is dead, in the grand scheme of things he couldn't survive...he would undermine the stories of his children (Robb, Jon).

Agreed, not on knowledge from the books, just on gut feeling based on what I've seen so far in S1.

I do agree with anyone saying it did seem a bit soon for his char to get cut off. (not to mention his head) The guy was made for roles, series, and movies like this.
