Agreed about the ending. I knew (of course) that she was going to live through the fire, but I did not see the emergence of her little "friend" coming. That was just too damn cool. I mean I knew dragons were going to enter the fray eventually, but the way they did it for me was unexpected... which I liked. TV series very rarely offers me surprises these days, this one did. Definitely looking forward to S2 and am going to scoop up the books and get busy reading them in the meantime. How long til S2 I wonder? |

Re: S2 -- I see that each season is based on one of the books, and there are what, five books in the series. (I'm searching for them now and can only see five so far, can buy them as a set on Amazon.ca for $55 CAD) The good news is there could be five seasons of this series on HBO. Ha, I love it. |

This show keeps getting better and better per episode, imo the best "sword and sorcery" style tv show, and trounces most movies. i don't generally even like the genre but games of thrones is a different animal.
hbo is supreme for series. |

Might have to hit up a book store and pay through the nose for them. |

Maybe that will save them enough $ to allow them to afford the higher end special CG effects needed to pull the rest of this off properly? |
I hope next season has more episodes.
|
I was going to bin this from the viewing schedule after 3 episodes but, very glad I stuck with this....excellent series :)

I was a doubter at first,
couldn't really get into it for some reason.. being that there are so many different story leads to follow, the first episode had a lot of ground work to lay down.. so I kind of tuned out. But after that I watched the second episode, then all the rest on demand. Yes, I am totally hooked. Pissed off it's already over for the season. Loved it. :2 cents: |
Such a great ending and what a nice pair of boobs! :) I think King Joffrey will be killed by the little daughter!

(Great ending: yes, a point for each boob, and yes I'd love to see the younger daughter skewer Little Lord Fauntlefucker) |

Her husband was 'reborn' a vegetable because she (the girl) didn't specify that she wanted him back as he was, she only asked for him to be alive. The witch needed a life as payment, and seemed to make it clear that killing his horse would be enough, but then later it came about that it was her unborn son that was the life to be taken as payment. SO... she (the girl) was suitably pissed about the witch's play on words and not delivering her husband back to her in his original state, PLUS the fact that she had to lose her son in the bargain, that was enough to send the old bitch into the flames. And I kind of suspected that it was going to take a long hot fire to wake up those dragon eggs but wasn't sure until now. With dragons at her side I hazard a guess in S2 she's going to be kicking ass and taking names. Can't wait. |

29 bucks on amazon. |
Wow, I realized reading the thread that this show is from a book I read (the second book of the set) and LOVED, I'll definitely have to check into whether I can get this show or not ... someone keep me posted if it ends up on Netflix!!!
|
I'm buying the books too.

hmmmm... There could be more to it though given it wasn't normal.. She's "special" being one of Dragons.. Being like that, it could also be that she can't breed unless it's with one of her kind.. There was an offhand comment at one point I think where the Queen had told Ned that the old royalty (the line of the Dragons, Daenerys' ancestors) had bred within their own family to keep the blood lines strong. Could actually have been more than that. |

I have no doubt that reading the books will shed further light on all that. |

If your cable company gives you access to http://hbogo.com/ you can stream every episode, as well as every episode of every other HBO series in their history. It's a fucking kick ass website...

As for me I'm with Shaw Cable, they have a free section in their Video On Demand area, and in there there's a section for Movie Central, and in THERE is every episode of S1 of Game of Thrones. I think I'll watch all of them through one more time while I wait for the books to arrive. :D |

Rereading my books now...no way I can have read them all in time but oh well...I do need to reread them to be sure where the story is at (since it's been a few years since I read them). The series is awesome and people...don't give up because Sean Bean is dead, in the grand scheme of things he couldn't survive...he would undermine the stories of his children (Robb, Jon). |

I do agree with anyone saying it did seem a bit soon for his char to get cut off. (not to mention his head) The guy was made for roles, series, and movies like this. |
