Lucky you.

Lucky her too I suppose, since her character seems to be in a write-in part of the story that wasn't even in the book. I guess HBO figured to add extra sexytime to the series.

Television is too hypnotic for me

Of that I have no doubt.

Btw, did you know that the chick who plays Shae the whore comes from a porn background? She's done about half a dozen German pornos in past years, most around 2002. Just a fun fact. :D

Osha is my fav girl in the show, Osha the wildling woman now a slave at Winterfell. Methinks she be hot.

VenzuelanChick 11-30-2011 02:33 AM

I cant wait for season 2 to be out. Such a good series!!!!!

I'm halfway through the book (called Clash of Kings), and I'm telling you I can't put it down it's that riveting. RIVETING!

April 15th can't come soon enough.

moeloubani 11-30-2011 04:22 PM

finished the last book in the series a few months ago and it kills me knowing that ill have to wait years to find out what happens next

the time between the last two books was 6 years and if that holds up then it won't be for another decade that i find out what happens :(

Supposedly when he wrote the last book it ended up being like 2400 pages so he split it in two which means, in theory, the next book already has a rough draft done. I have a feeling HBO is on him now as well to get to work on these because they have said they would like to make the whole series if they can.

I've resisted starting the series until he has it finished because I don't want to get knee deep into it and have it never end.

It doesn't get much better than that.

Too much teasing about dragons and undead... Needs to kick it up a notch.

The last two books were the ones that were split and ran cuncurrently(A Feast for Crows and a Dance with Dragons) . The next one was 100 pages in when he released a Dance with Dragons so it may be a while before release. HBO has enough material to last 8+ seasons at least already.

Very good books

Ah, I see. I guess when I read the interview with him I got my books mixed up. . . of course having not read them I have no idea what order they go either :)

Hopefully he will knock this one out in a decent amount of time.

Do you know if he is planning one more or two more to wrap the series up?

digitalfantasies 12-01-2011 02:13 PM

I am going to watch the first episodes tonight

He could conclude certain parts of the story and introduce a bunch of completely brand new plot lines and keep on going for another ten books after these ones and I'd be just fine with that. For this genre the guy is an insanely talented writer.

HBO can wrap up the series after 7 or 8 seasons all they want, but keep the books coming.

TheStout 12-02-2011 09:33 AM

He has said that he will not be introducing any new point of view characters after the last two (Feast for Crows and A Dance with Dragons). I have no idea how many more books he is planning though.

brassmonkey 12-02-2011 09:38 AM

Welcome to the dark side.

CDSmith 01-17-2012 11:56 AM

I'm down to the final 50 pages of book 5 now. Dreading finishing it because I know I'm then at the edge of a cliff waiting for the next book which may not come for a long time. Years, I'm told.

Good news is season 2 is only 3 months away. HBO is running S1 episodes one a week starting this week, for anyone that missed it and wants to catch up.

CDSmith 03-15-2012 06:42 AM

Only 30 days til S2.

I know you're all as stoked as I am.

CaptainHowdy 03-15-2012 06:45 AM

I will after my sex change operation ...

adamneve 03-15-2012 06:46 AM

I still have not seen even 1 episode. Have you read the books too?

Yes.

Far-L 05-14-2012 09:59 AM

I enjoy the show but Season two, no spoilers don't worry, does diverge from some plot points of the books unneccessarily in a few places and imo for no good reason at all. (Well adding some gratuitous sex is not necessarily a bad thing... but... they did much better with the ratio of show/book in season one than in s2 imo.

moeloubani 05-14-2012 10:57 AM

yeah i noticed some timelines were really clipped in season 2 but to be honest the stuff the cut out was a little boring in the book anyways

damn though, at first i thought season 2 was going to bore me after i read the books but damn, these guys can really make a show well

I wouldn't mind the clipping out for expediency as that worked in S1 but now actual plot points are being added/changed and I don't see the point at all since the books are so tight and well plotted.

xJerk 05-14-2012 12:57 PM

Not yet, but I plan to.

I'm interested to see where those divergent plot points will take us though.

Yeah, me too. They even introduced a new character (at least one - looked her up) that's not in the book at all and I'm curious where that's headed. Also, if they plan on being as ruthless with there beloved characters existences as he is in the book series and they were in the first season.

I hate shows with red shirts and cannon fodder. I love feeling depressed and sad when shows get rid of main characters in a legitimate way :thumbsup :1orglaugh

The best part of the books is every character is so mortal and tragically flawed and as a a result of his or her own bad choices is probably going to get killed horribly at some point in the near future. Introducing unnecessary romantic subplots with freshly minted characters not found in the books, I'm just saying, that is a big red flag. I still enjoyed the last two episodes but doubts are being forged, then honed, sharper than Valeryian steel...

CDSmith 05-15-2012 11:19 AM

We learned the sad bitter truth of it when Ned Stark lost his head.

No character is safe.

And winter is coming.

Relentless 05-15-2012 11:26 AM

The butterfly effect may be a problem for them...

The Television show is getting more and more distant from the books... even killing characters on the show who are still alive in the books to this point. If Martin starts doing things in book 7 with characters the show killed in season 2... they will have a bit of a mess to sort out as they go along.

Some things had to be changed for expediency with only 10 hours per season of television, but other major plot points are now being completely redone by the show. Not sure I like that, I've grown to trust Martin... I dont yet trust the HBO team.

The two mediums have to exist as separate things. They have to do things in the filmed version that will make the TV series work. It needs to become its own thing to work for that medium. The book is the book.

George RR Martin discusses that exact point along with the broader issues of not having control over the television show while the book series continues to evolve. It's actually a very interesting interview with some backstory to how it all happened... and this way im not ruining things for Marina with any spoilers. :2 cents:
