i loved st petersburg when i went, the hermitage is the most amazing museum i have ever been to. and the women are stunningly beautiful.
the only downside was the taxi drivers were a complete ripoff - and that was even with having a fluent russian speaker with us!!
an amazing place that is a must see!

Absolutely wrong statement. The most beautiful Russian women live central and south Russia on the Volga river (Samara, Saratov, Volgograd etc) I know what I'm talking about and any Russian who traveled a lot through the country will confirm that.

In a same way like in any other country (e.g. in the USA, EU etc) - they won't beat you if you won't bother them with dirty talks :)

St. Petersburg and Moscow are the very visited cities. There are many places where it's not really easy to see a Russian among the foreign tourists :)

It was cloudy and rainy everyday except one. However, I was told by my local friend that this was the best way to get a real feel for the city. As if gray skies are fitting for a city with such architecture and art.

Wrong computer for any pics at the moment but on sunny days the gold onion domes just get lost in the overall brightness.

Looks beautiful. Too bad about the weather though.

The weather did not bother us one bit. What was kind of hard was sleeping through the white nights. Add that to the jet lag and you have some serious sleeping issues.

For those arguing about Russian women and how beautiful they are etc... Moscow and St Petersburg women are not even remotely close to the most beautiful women in Russia. Not even in the top 10. And to say "the further east you go, the uglier they get" is absurd. Vladivostok has some of the hottest women in the country... nothing like living in a city that has 9 major universities. There is nothing like 1/2 slavik + 1/2 korean or 1/2 chinese women. Good lord. Especially in a place like sakhalin where the japs were kind enough to import shitloads of Koreans during the war and were kind enough to leave them there.

Compared to other Russian cities, St Petersburg is definitely one of the safer cities in Russia. Although it had a very nasty reputation for being one of the most violent through the mid-late 90's and early 2000's, people there are definitely much more different than anywhere in Russia. They are much more westernized, much more laid back and very used to tourists and people in general are much more polite and kind than say Moscow where people, just like in any capital city tend to be very abrasive and rude and where crime/petty crime is out of control. Even police or traffic cops in St Pete are less aggressive/rude and harder to bribe, whereas in Moscow or almost anywhere else, they might just tell you point blank "give me 100$ or your fucked", although that kind of stuff is changing a lot as well. It's not really less corrupt than other Russian cities but that sort of stuff isn't really seen by tourists.

St Petersburg is still one of my most favorite cities in the world, i lived there for years and I've been all over the world.

SPB is fine town, especially its central part. Too freaking cold in winter.

Mixed (Eastern and Western) blood is something that makes Russian, Latvian, Belorussian and Ukrainian women that beautiful. Excuse me, but women from North Europe are ugly.

After working construction on a few high rise buildings I've gained a greater appreciation for buildings and their architecture.
Stuff like you've posted leaves me in awe. The older the better and one day I hope to visit places like this with Egypt and Rome at the top of my list.

Those pictures bring back memories. I lived there for 2 years. Of course I was a Mormon missionary at the time. I imagine I would have a whole different experience if I went back there.

The women there are definitely beautiful and they also are more cultured and educated which I found made them even more attractive.
