If you go through and look at actual history and see which seats were predicted to flip vs. those that were truly voted in, you can find many times throughout history where other Presidents got hammered far worse. The reason it didn't slide more was some seats aren't always up, others are guaranteed to stay the same and did for a very long time.

The 2010 flip was expected to be BIGGER than it was, before Obama was President, really was only a few seats that were like, oh damn, we didn't expect that.
