I would like to see what he said. That sounds seriously pretentious since the only point of the movie was to show sexy girls slicing and shooting stuff and that is precisely what the hook of all the advertising was in no uncertain terms. Sounds to me like he was just trying to make excuses for the lameness and maintain some sort of hipster cool distance from accepting that it just plain sucked.

If the movie actually said anything meaningful about how sick society is because people like to see girls in cute schoolgirl outfits killing things then so be it, nothing wrong with challenging perceptions but he just did a crap job. The characters might as well have been reading bumper stickers instead of a script; in fact, using that many montages no matter how cool the song selection is to move the plot forward just starts to get retarded.

FYI: it's not Shakespeare, it's just a fun movie filled with great effects and some cool music.. that's all. I enjoyed my time spent being wow-ed by the cinematography. I am a visual person. I love first person shooters. and as far as the 'hot chicks' goes... so what? I have 'hot chicks' around all day long. and the movie probably makes more sense than most NBC shows.

The movie was just an excuse to show girls in skimpy outfits shooting stuff full of holes in the most stylized way possible -- and that's okay. I like my slow, character driven indie art-house films, but I sure as fuck like to mindlessly watch shit get blowed real good by hot chicks.

Some of you could stand to learn the beauty of appreciating things for what they are, even when it's shit.

It's like all of these pseudo-critics that bash the Transformers movies. It's giant robots beating the dog shit out of each other. People that go to see it are getting what they wanted and then some. If you went for something else, I'd sure like to know what the fuck it was you were expecting.

Give me a good bad movie over a bad good movie any day of the week. I don't expect Shakespeare from Hollywood at all and all I play are FPS.

The movie had great visuals. But after that it just sucked and it sucked because it was pretentious psycho-drivel slathered over some ok action sequences.

Last thing I saw was "Bridesmaids", a dude flick for chicks, and I am not ashamed to say I enjoyed it.

Looking forward to Conan though, been saying that was ripe for revision with modern special effects for years.

Depending on your mood - the movie seems to be a little depressing, but that's the idea, and that part was good.
In my country they translate the label like: Imaginary World, in fact "Sucker Punch" cannot be translated literally and to have some sense. The visual effects are awesome - explosions, environments, war fields etc. I'm kinda sick of the "manga" alike fighting choreography that is wide spread in recent HollyWood movies, where they use the sword play and martial art techniques. This movie is not an exception.

For me - personally - the movie is a hybrid between "The Matrix", "HellBoy" and several Manga movies with sexy chicks as protagonists... It's a good way to waste your time, but if you have something better to do like to make money or get laid, choose that instead of seeing this movie.
They way it ended left me the impression that it will be a second part sequel.

ah yes, enjoyed this movie in a double bill with the Bridges of Madison County...

I also hated it...it was lame.

Saw it in the theaters and wish it would have been better planned out, story wise, The visuals are amazing and the concept was very interesting. Great soundtrack as well.

oh yea, story-wise the movie is a bit of a turd, was watching it with my wife, she got up at one point to wiki the ending and went on with her evening while I stuck it out...if that says anything, thought it would be at least a bit more adult, but yea I'm not sure about the target demographic in this one...think guys of any age watching this were thinkin..where them titties at?

...At least its not as messed up as say a starwars film about trade embargos and senate opposed blockades...oh wait that actually happened...kids love that stuff

I liked it, but I enjoy stylized violence so yeah.
