I dont care whether people want to wear a lid or not tbh and yes it should be a choice but for myself I would always wear one. Just like i used to wear a condom when i was younger to protect myself :)

I don't care what they wear, but to say that helmets don't help is pure madness.

If they want to take that risk, it's all on them.

I had an accident in my youth where I laid a bike down and slide for 300 feet. My helmet was cracked in half. If it wasn't for that helmet, I'd be dead now.

I road bikes for years, and rode in Phoenix where their wasn't a helmet law. More often than not I wore the helmet. Yes, it's claustrophobic, and yes your hearing or vision is obstructed. That's part of the motorcycle charm.

Baddog isn't sure the helmet saved your life. Can you be 100% SURE RICHARD?

...Or are you just as unable to see alternate futures as everyone else, and are pretty sure the covering you provided your head helped in a sudden impact situation?

You sound like the nurse that chided me for not wearing a helmet . . . while I was there for a broken leg.

Klen 07-04-2011 01:34 PM

I got 200$ fine once due not wearing helmet but never paid it due to specific reasons. But i would always carry it if i would have my own bike.

I'm just trying to prevent the centre of the universe from destroying itself unwittingly.

And hold on.. You broke your leg in a bike accident (I'm assuming), and failed to see how your head could also break in a similar situation? Most people would see their leg as a warning.. You see it as... proof that you can survive a bike accident or something?

People saying no to helmets, do you also say no to car seatbelts?

Fuck that dude anyway!

jimmy-3-way 07-04-2011 01:45 PM

You people who are arguing with the anti-helmet people...you do realize you are arguing with people who place no value on their own heads, literally, right?

scarlettcontent 07-04-2011 01:59 PM

its common sense to wear a helmet

I wear a lid irrespective of what a state law says.

Beyond any law that binds me to where one, It not that I feel a helmet can afford a more reckless riding style or that wearing one would prevent any accident of my own making while riding carefully

.....I wear one predominantly because of the other road users.

- there are some fucking idiot road users out there and I can't control what they do.

twistyneck 07-04-2011 06:18 PM

We saw a guy on a bike hit a deer at about 70 mph one night. He slid down the road maybe a hundred feet or so. His helmet was trashed but he walked away with minor injuries.

Having said that, I think helmets should be optional. I'm all in favor of weeding out the stupid.

crockett 07-04-2011 07:43 PM

Heh, least he died for what he believed in. I used to be against seat belt laws when they came to FL back when I was a younger. After I started racing I realized how much seat belt actually do keep you in position to control the car.

I view helmets much the same.. while it might not help you control the bike, it's damn sure more likely than not to give you a better chance at survival if you crash.

porno jew 07-04-2011 07:47 PM

wear a helmet or die.

Nurgle 07-04-2011 09:08 PM

GAMEFINEST 07-04-2011 09:16 PM

Yup, that's 5! I like to call this one the nut cracker... :upsidedow

I like seeing idiots riding without helmets or shirts, I just smile knowing when they hit a junebug or bumblebee they'll regret that decision! But really you get smacked in the face with a bug you lose control of your bike and hit a car causing a bigger accident... then is a full face shield a right or an obligation for EVERYONES safety?

And I rode for years, actually had a motorcycle endorsement before I had a drivers license. Always wore a helmet, I know what it's really good for.
