I wonder how long it would take for Gideon to stop posting bollocks here if everyone ignored him? Could we all make a pact? Go on.

DamianJ 07-20-2011 06:10 AM

the link predates the canadian supreme court ruling upholding aand extending the copyright boards ruling

so it mistakenly says sharing content you bought on p2p is wrong.

but the information about filling out the paper work and getting your share of the collected taxes is there.

NetHorse 07-20-2011 08:01 AM

What exactly does this signify? What was the sample size, 100 people? What a useless article to post on GFY.

We don't need a consumer research company to do an insignificant survey to know that piracy continues to fuck this industry in the ass.

Why do you guys argue with this idiot? He sets himself up with arguments that he's more prepared than anyone else to argue. He's passionate about stealing. He loves it. He promotes and defends wholesale theft non stop. He's not even in the biz.

:helpme:helpme:helpme:helpme

so what the supreme court says is 100% legal is not legal because i am paying the royalties not the seeder

you do realize that when you buy music from a store, your paying the royalties too right

btw that how the seeder licienced the content by buying the cd in the first place.

http://neil.eton.ca/copylevy.shtml

Quote:

  1. If someone steals a commercial CD, steals a blank CD-R, and then copies the commercial CD onto the CD-R, they are a thief, but they have not infringed copyright.
  2. You can legally lend a commercial CD to a friend, give him a blank CD-R, let him use your computer, and help him burn the CD-R which he can keep for his own private use.
  3. You can legally copy a commercial CD , keep the copy, and give your friend the original.
  4. You cannot legally make the copy yourself and give your friend the copy.
  5. Your friends Alice and Benoit really like the new commercial CD you just purchased. Alice borrows it and makes a copy for her own use. She then passes the commercial CD on to Benoit, who makes a copy for his own use. Benoit gives the commercial CD back to you. This is all perfectly legal.
  6. However, if Alice had copied the commercial CD, given it back to you, and passed her copy on to Benoit to make a copy for his own use, then copyright would have "probably" been infringed. There is some doubt here because Alice's original intent is important. In the strictest terms, her copy was no longer just for her private use. Pretty strange considering that the end result of examples 5 and 6 are exactly the same!

American music/film makers don't use Canadian laws.

And distribution royalties are not paid when someone buys a CD.

See, the torrent is distributing the content without a license to distribute.
That's the part that you refuse to understand.

If you are seeding the torrent then you are assisting in the distribution also.

And it doesn't slip by me that you quote Canadian laws about content and it's a
fact that Canadian music and film is fucking crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe your laws are the reason that your stuff sucks.

Americans created Rock and Roll, Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, Hip Hop, Rap, Country,
Rag Time, etc...etc....

Canada created fucking nothing except putting gravy on french fries. :1orglaugh

Your laws make it not worth creating and that's why your country is militarily weak and
your talent sucks.

Why don't you people invent something worth a shit that America can use like a
weapon or even a stove. All you do is suck up all our shit and now you don't want to
pay for it either.

So how much a year can Metallica collect vs some band that sells almost nothing? Are they paid per song? What makes a tax collected by another country worth more than STOLEN royalties?
