My email to Currently Sober with his comments and my replies.

Thanks for the comments, this is exactly what I need. Another POV.
Hopefully will get a few more.

Quote:

OK, well its obviously not finished, because it kinda drifts off into your personal notes at the end, but thats fine. You never said it was the finished article, so fair enough. I am also sure that you are aware that there are a few grammatical errors, but nothing a good proof read wont fix...
Yes not finished and the end wasn't touched. When the publisher offered me the deal I lost interest, not I've got some time will finish it. Probably during the winter, when it's cold. Grammar never was my strong point. LOL

Quote:

I also understand that it is aimed at 1st time shooters (Total Noobs) and as such, I cant really find anything wrong with it.
Correct, experienced shooters have built there way of working over years and are not likely to change.
Quote:

I'd have to say that a lot of the sections are things that you have posted here on GFY before, such as the 27 poses, and the advice on the girls periods etc, but thats OK cause most of the people who would be reading it, would be unaware of GFY, and therefore its new to them...
Yes it's articles I've posted over the years, I've probably shared what I know already.

Quote:

In essence, its not GREAT... But its not terrible either. It does however, IMHO, need a lot more 'Meat' in it, before its saleable...
Yes it needs beefing up without going on and on.

Quote:

Most of the stuff you discuss I know anyway, but only due to my own 20+ years of shooting experience. However, with that said, its still stuff that I LEARNED OVER TIME... and therefore would have been handy to have all in one place, for a beginner...
Hopefully this will save a few making the same mistakes we made. Warn them first. LOL

Quote:

Theres a couple of things I DON'T agree with, (Regarding the talking to the model section) but thats not down to protocol. Just not the way I would do them - But then I am not you, and what you could say, as a friendly looking older guy with a camera (Uncle Paul?) simply would not work for me...
I could simply get away with it, my strong point was my charm in the shoot and being able to say things others couldn't Even as a 40 year old I would say things to a girl that she would laugh at or take as flattery. If others said it she would walk out.

For instance.

"I'm actually a pervert and there's no film in the camera.?

When shooting a close up of a pussy. "Reminds me it's lunch time soon." Or just zoom in, look over the camera and say "Smile."

Mason got away with it in a different way, Colby was utter charm and Jack Harrison used to put on his foreign accent and flirt a lot. It was whether the girl really believed she wasn't safe or you were joking to make the work go better.

However it needs to be written better to explan it better. Being business like to a model, like you would to a secretary isn't going to work. IMO the girl needs to have her best coaxed out of her. XXX is a prime example of a shooter who can barely keep the girl awake or in the room.

Quote:

I also didn't like the sub heading of "Everything is up for grabs at a casting" - To me, that just sounds really pervy...
Will rephrase that. Wanted to express the shooter should have no pre conceived ideas of what will happen on a casting. The next Miss World might turn up or someone who looks more like her Dad. LOL Thanks will reword it.

Quote:

You include a simple form for the model to fill in - Pre Shoot - But don't include a sample model release and 2257 forms that can be printed off and used by the photographer... Perhaps add them in?
Yes.

Quote:

Finally, you list you 'Order' of things on the day of the shoot, which ends up with "paperwork' Then 'Pay the model'... While you are used to doing it this way, I would recommend that the paperwork (IDs Model Releases, HIV Test Scans etc) be done BEFORE you shoot...

I agree to the paying at the end, cause if you give them the money before you shoot, they loose incentive, however, for a new guy, it would make sense to get the paperwork done at the start. Just incase she doesn't have her IDs etc.... Cause if she doesn't, she will still want paying, and you wont wanna pay her, cause you cant guarantee you can sell it legally. But I am not trying to tell you how to suck eggs. I'm sure you know that already. I'm just suggesting that you tell a newbie to do it that way round.
We check IDs and flat bed scan them today or shoot them laying on the floor, then at the start of every scene we shoot the model holding her IDs. HIV tests are also checked before the shoot. Payment at the end, which might be 20 minutes after we start or the end of the day. That gives them incentive. Payment for the shoot is discussed with the girl at the time of booking. Need to make all that clearer.

Quote:

Hope you find the above to be constructive advice and opinions....
Yes. Exactly what I needed.

:2 cents:

This was very helpful. After some thought on the communication part I think it needs rewriting.

I need to get it right. I was able to get away with a lot of flirting, girls enjoy being flattered, when naked and doing sexy things they like it to be appreciated. What they don't like is it done in a way that scares or upsets them. A shooter who wants to be good needs, to develop his charm and work with models using it. Once it upsets the model, the day is over.

One more though. Regarding the 'Model Communication' angle...

I understand what you are saying about joking that there is 'No Film in the camera' etc, and have no doubt that works for YOU...

Likewise, I feel confident that I too, could make a similar joke, and get away with it...

The same goes for the 'flirting angle'... HOWEVER...

Both you and I have a legit, verifiable history that can be checked up on... The person reading the e-book, and then booking his first model, does not have the same credibility...

Therefore, while the girl infront of your camera, or my camera, may well be new, or established, at least she knows the names of other models who have been there before her, and sees that the end product is going to be legitimately sold, alongside many other models doing similar shoots etc...

But the new guy - Well, I personally wouldn't recommend that he tries to flirt, or 'fool about' (Mentally, not physically) with the model...

Again, its all down to the individual, but I think that suggesting a brand new guy acts exactly the same way as a guy who has done shoots 100s of times, might not be the best approach for him to take... :2 cents:

Yes I need to totally rework that section. A shooter's personality is what can make or kill a shoot.

And another lol....

It would all depend on if you could prove that twitter account damaged to your rep and actually cost you money, which isn't going to happen. Either way, the damages amount would be very tiny... not enough to cover your own costs.

As well, I highly doubt you have the 10k to cover the lawyer each month. Being that you couldn't sue him in your region, you would have to take it to a place you both do business, money wise, so you can get the money if you win. Which will cost some money to find, and lawyers aren't cheap.

Then the $20k court filing cost (each time), and the probably 10+ trips you would have to make for discoveries alone. And the bond you would have to put up, equal to the amount you're suing for, just encase you lose - which any lawyer will ask for in a case like this.

I've gone through 3 lawsuits, biggest one costing us 3 million dollars. You're barking up a tree your retirement plan can't cover.

TheDoc 07-28-2011 02:50 PM

Maybe you could point out in those articles where they sued fake satire accounts that say they're fake?

You might have a case IF the person doing it, owned a content company, making it actual damages.

How many people sue comedians for damages, because they poked fun at them and pretending to be them, even live on the stage with the people in the crowd sometimes, and actually win?

Yes, because it has to do with satire. If both were a competing business, you would have something, otherwise, you have satire.

You can find lawyers that will sue for anything... but that doesn't mean you will win.

In the reverse, a half baked lawyer could easy prove how they aren't competing, before laughing his way out of the court on the satire claim.

Hello Saturday Night Live.... making fun of people in all types of way, cracking jokes about them for years, being wrong about it, even stupid things that can be viewed as lies... but in the end, satire.

Then go read a book. My E Book would be of no use to you. It's for people starting out. People who want to build a relationship with a model to enable her to give a great real performance.

This is miles away from the porn you produce.

We have different views on porn. I think it's mostly about what's in front of the camera. The models performance, the amount of effort, emotion and reality she puts into it. You think it's mostly about photography, art, lighting, film making, editing skills.

You ask people who aren't trained actors to act and think by clever photography skills you can turn that into something pornographic or even erotic.

I think if the performers performance is pornographic and erotic the finished product is. It takes little skill to capture a truly erotic scene. It takes a lot of skill to get a model who didn't intent to do anything for real and only there for the money. To give a performance that will be real and only for her/his pleasure.

marlboroack 07-29-2011 12:57 AM

If you buy me an E-book I'll do anything you want. But i don't wanna sit here on my computer desk and read it. That would suck actually.

Print it, staple it together, sign the cover and send it to me. I'll read it all. E-mail me Mark, i think it would be very interesting.

So it is a book for people who no nothing, anybody that could point out your errors can't see it.

When you criticise others you are always saying them what technical faults they have, even those these are only technical faults in your narrow world.

So there it is - if you got a copy Paul Markham thinks you know nothing and are not a threat.

Yes that is essential advice. I warn people also of the dangers of using red socks and yellow socks. It also helps if the lighting guy, sound man, cameraman and director all have matching black socks. :1orglaugh

I'd be interested in looking at your ebook. My email: ezgirlproducer at yahoo.com

Regarding paperwork: After booking the model I send a full page "SHOOT SPECS" by email to the model or agent. It has everything on it from a description of the assignment, pay and wardrobe to how I want the toe nails to look. Even so, I am astonished at how many agents (especially agents) and models don't bother to read it. Paperwork is done before the shoot, no exceptions. After the model signs everything I ask "How much are we paying you today and what are you doing?" We don't proceed one inch further until pay and assignment are clearly understood. Payment is always made in cash at the end of the shoot.

Looking forward to reading it.

E Book sent.

Had the same problem with agents. A lot of them are clueless. If they couldn't work right, I didn't use them. We were always able to find girls ourselves without agents and insisted any agent who wanted to send us a girl sent her to a casting first.

Once had a casting arranged by an agent at a friends studio in Prague. She arranged for around 25 girls to turn up. She got them to read the script I prepared and fill in our form telling who she is, size, availability and what she will do. On every single one she made the girls leave their contact details off. When we asked her to book 3 of the girls from the casting, she never bothered. So we found out their phone numbers and went direct. When she billed us for commission, she was told where to shove the bill.

Had some good ones and some bad ones. :) :( Name of the game

Shooters and the ones with the money, they call the tune. Once you let agents and models dictate the quality of the content dives.

http://whois.domaintools.com/paulmarkhamteens.co.uk is the whois for www.paulmarkhamteens.co.uk which now redirects to our site. This Whois Damian has the guts to show he owns it.

http://twitter.com/fakepaulmarkham# has now been removed. I complained about it and Damian said he took it down himself. It was full of libel about me liking young children and though he never used the word, his description of me made me out to be a pedophile.

Like some of his posts here about me buying a dog to attract children. He even posted, on B&B, a link to Youtube on an article about a pedophile who stole a puppy to attract children. Stupid really because anyone would know Boxers grow fast and though only 5 months now is scary to most kids. Too big and boisterous.

I would of sued him into bankruptcy if he had any money.

I'd even say your little word document would be useful for a newb once it's been finished, edited (take out the bit showing you wrote it four years ago!) and formatted. No one would buy it, but to give it away and have adverts in it for your content would be good. It needs an ending too. Reads like you got bored half way through and it just peters off.

Every example, every point you make, should be one of your pics with a link of where to buy it.

We both know you'd never sell it, but to use it as a marketing vehicle to sell your content would be good.

I'll even help you and do the layout for free.

Just to show the hatchet is well and truly buried.

All the best

Damian

To bury the hatchet I would need a full written apology for insinuating I'm a pedophile, that Eva is a bought wife or looks like a man, snipes at our content or our shooting ability, the allegations that you learned something about why an employee quit her job and I had to leave England for any other than financial reasons.

An apology for this video and it's removal. https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=17914848&postcount=1

An apology for this post https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=18119790&postcount=189

An apology for this post https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=17423817&postcount=136 which was a lie.

An apology for this post https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=17873308&postcount=75 lying again.

An apology for this post https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=18151408&postcount=52

An apology for this post https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=18152523&postcount=55

An apology for this post https://gfy.com/showpost.php?p=18178754&postcount=24

In fact all these posts contain lies.

Proving you lie.

Strange how you screamed about me sucking up to Manwin because they have Tubes and you were promoting a site that leaked traffic for affiliates on the join page. some call that shaving, others call it stealing. What do you think?

Damian IMO you're a pretty low person. To have a go at Eva, accuse me of faking my cancer, of going after children and a lot of other things. All I ever said was where you live wasn't very nice, that you're single, that you're a magician as a side line and that IMO your marketing of yourself is very flawed. So I don't think you're very good at what you do or earned a lot of money.

The post on B&B wasn't to help you, it was to show 3wayscash was shaving.

Oh come on Paul, there's no way you'd do something as nice as that with malice! Not you!

So I take it as your apology for your years of libel, and now we can move on.

The board is tired of our pointless arguing about nothing Paul. We're never going to change each other's minds, are we?

So, I made a deal that every time I felt like arguing pointlessly with you, I will do a blog post or something useful with the time. It's been awesome. Imagine how many posts I wanted to make about your Mofo's film! I've not even commented. Done 19 blog posts instead!

So, all in all, you've helped me with a tech issue one of my client's had that's now been fixed and you've increased my productivity. For that I thank you.

All my anger towards you is now gone.

I've started yoga and realised I waste far too much time and energy with you when I could be doing something good.

I meant it about formatting the word doc for you. Just let me know.

All the best,

Damian
