And let alone trying to charge custom coding on top, most people considers that a given. What I mean is that I had a pretty decent skill set when I started, and with that skill set, I'd get like 1 task every 2-3 months.

I've been running a mainstream online design agency for 4 years now on www.bysoigne.com - all I do is design, I have 0 developing skills. I outsource everything to my go-to developers.

People pay us really good money, because its just like some people mentioned earlier, selling yourself and your products is a huge part of the game. BTW harvey, none of this is in reply to your quote, just that little bit at the top ;)

If you get into the design world, set a reputation for yourself. Mouth to mouth is THE way to reel in client after client (as long as you deliver quality results ofcourse). When you send people a quote, always send them a price you'd wish they'd say yes to and start negotiating from there. I wouldn't bother much with blogs, unless they're part of a bigger project.

Fact: If you design for adult... you're a whore, you're not very smart and you're a shitty business person. You are designing for people who are going to only pay 20% or so of what a mainstream company will pay. Also, you are designing/working for the worst degenerates, most unprofessional people and they are usually fucking broke to begin with... who want everything for nothing and will all almost always be gone in 6 months (i.e. not become long term clients, i.e. not refer business who becomes long term clients).

All this talk about how to do business is idiotic. Everyone knows that the vast majority of people in this biz and even on this board are broke ass morons. If you're here trying to drum up business, its because you aren't very bright and you suck at business. Even the largest programs are paying 1/2 of what a regular mainstream company would pay. Mainstream is an unlimited market - porn has a decreasing number of successful companies with money to spend.

This is why few designers can even make any kind of living designing for adult, why they come and go very quickly and why the vast majority, even those with a lot of talent will not last longer than the typical idiot who jumps into this biz because he likes naked girls.

If you're a great designer, programmer, photographer you're not working in porn. Online or offline. The money is in other fields.

Paul, that's not quite true - the same rule would go for the directors who shoots porn. According your words, such directors are not great - because they don't do feature movies, but shoot dicks and vaginas instead of dramas and action movies. What about Jess Franco and Joe D'Amato ?

I'd say - it's a matter of choice - you can do porn or mainstream.
How to consider someone as great ? In my opinion the greatness comes with the purchases and money.

My conclusion is - the things would be more easy if your hobby is your job - and thus the things are easy. You /not you in person, but anyone/ - so love porn and you know there's money in it - so you shoot porn. Easy - for you, happy clients. But easy don't mean your job should be cheap.

Pussy Lover, the best approach is to "eat everything" - in other words - do both mainstream /if someone like what you do/ ,and adult - there will be clients who would see talent and probably who will pay you the money you want.

Every train has it's own passengers.

walk into any sports GM office as an amateur player and talk to him like you know how to run his business.

You see you're the amateur I'm the GM. You respect me like you said. that is the first step in understanding your place. :2 cents:

Then you will never gain anyone's true respect. I for one think you are a bumbling idiot hiding behind a keyboard. You're no different than that moron that ran epiccash. Except he actually made big money before he lost it all.

LOL to funny loser go back to creating $40 blogs.

Just because i dont care about complete losers like yourself or whiny losers like the thread starter does not mean i dont have respect.

fact is i could care less about people who do not respect me. i wouldnt be doing business with those people in the first place. you seem to care about what other people think and what other people do. that is why you are a loser blog creator whoring himself up.

come talk to me when you make computers your full time job and not on the side for beer money. "respect" :1orglaugh to funny. loser.
