50 shiny Lions

When did mac fan boys become new Jehovah witnesses, did it happen at a time of learning new secret gestures?

Hi Zorgman, Question for you.

I saw today on Apple.com that they have a new monitor that connects via the Thunderbolt port, and it looks like you can actually daisy-chain monitors together - am I reading that right?

Not exactly, you can daisy chain ANYTHING. So you have one lead coming from your laptop and it goes to your monitor, then to your HDD, then a SD reader, then another monitor, then a mouse, then another HDD

It's throughput is fast enough for video editing!

What exactly is incorrect there? Don't you agree that Mac is a clone of the IBM PC platform?

Yes of course. They doing it right like any other sects do (Mormons, Catholics, Muslims, Saintologs...) - the recipe is very simple and know for thousands of years. :2 cents:

There is more hatred between windows and mac fanboys as there is between Markham and me!

The one who can build its own computer will never buy a brand one (course if we are talking about desktops).

Haters? I never said that I hate Mac OS X. I just said that Windows is better because there are much more applications for it. Foe example, if you buy some device (course if it's not an iPhone, or IPad ;)) you always can connect it to a computer that runs Windows, but only a few devices have Mac OS X software. The same also applies to almost all high-end professional hardware (various controllers etc).

^^

Also, Lion is a failure of an operating system.

As for the whole mac vs PC argument, they're the same thing. The only difference between them at this point is the operating system which is a moot point because there are efi bootloaders out that allow you to install OSX distros on non-apple hardware.

What makes Lion a failure?

You can't even compare the two, it's a totally different league. Switching to Mac after 20+years of using Windows PCs is the best thing I ever did. I could never go back to a shitty Windows system. People that tell otherwise just don't know what they are talking about. They probably never tried a Mac, because if they did, they wouldn't stick with their Windows PC.

I used to walk around saying "fuck mac" when i was younger, but i had never really even used one. I recently went mac at home and in the office and i haven't looked back for 1 second.

With that said, if you like Mac, good for you. If you like Windows, good for you. This "mac sucks, pc sucks" shit is getting fucking old.

i know people who work at Apple stores, chat with some nightly.

The stories of morons who go in for service or to shop are just... can write a book. Seems like most of the Apple customers are really clueless about everything, they just point and click. Many also seem to be quite the elitist types as well- my friends seem to agree that's a large majority of the people they see daily just judging by the way they get treated.

However, interestingly none of them deny, even agree their company is full of shit. They seem to be suffering from hardware problems a lot too, and customers are placated immediately as much as possible to keep them from complaining too much.

And yes they were told to not bring up that malware problem from a few weeks back under threat of immediate firing on the spot, if a customer were to bring it up they were to deflect- change subject or not respond at all.

Very well said Aaron. People get pretty defensive.

Apple is kicking everyone's ass in the PC world and Windows users just hate that.

It was amazing to see 800 people lined up a couple of weeks ago for our town's Apple store grand opening, and for what? Just to be the first ones to go in. They didn't have a sale or anything. People just love the Mac products and the Apple brand. It's awesome.

people are brainwashed by marketing, not really different from religion.

On the other hand Android is doing pretty well, Apple is losing market share or gaining something like 1% whereas Android is growing in double or triple digits. Personally i think it's a shit OS having used one, but I've gone from constantly seeing people walking around with iPhones to people with Androids, everywhere.

Even at retail stores that sell cell phones, the sales people would often push Androids on customers almost all the time. When I rarely set foot in BestBuy people are all huddled fiddling with the droids while the iPhone is sitting off to the site ignored.

Apple is KILLING Windows in the home market. It's a better OS and now with a $29.95 upgrade price point compared to $100 to $300 for windows.

Add to that version which is a dream come true if you are working on graphics or images.

And BTW I'm a PC user I have two PC's But I want to move everything I can to OSX and the Mac. I'll have a windows PC also but really apple is so much better at this point if you can afford the price difference. And that no small part due to the OS being matched to the hardware. Like the above user said. And remember OSX is basically Apples flavor of UNIX.
