I really think people that say PCs/Windows are better never used a Mac and are just against it just be against it. They all sound so stubborn. You can't even compare the two, it's a totally different league. Switching to Mac after 20+years of using Windows PCs is the best thing I ever did. I could never go back to a shitty Windows system. People that tell otherwise just don't know what they are talking about. They probably never tried a Mac, because if they did, they wouldn't stick with their Windows PC.

I've worked with all version of Windows since 2.0, most of Linux flavors, FreeBSD and MacOS. The last one is by far the best imho.

All the modern Mac's are clones of the IBM PC platform - the have absolutely the same hardware as any other Intel-based computers like Sony, Lenovo and others. So there is no such a platform as Mac anymore. |

If you look at modern offices at all the big new web firms you will see mainly Macs. Of course for many specific industries and certain companies and network setups, etc. Macs are probably not the best solution, but for a normal day to day user, webmaster, coder, designer, etc. a Mac is just a lot more convenient than a windows PC. |

Case in point: While we regularly work on and have to replace parts and towers in our call center, mostly Dell, call center environment at NETbilling, the Macs that we have run perfectly, year after year. I still have a G4 300 (12 years old now I think) being used pin my office as a media center and transaction monitor and has never even been worked on and maybe rebooted 10x. Another example. One of the large middle schools here in my city recently (last school year) switched their servers and office/classroom computers to Macs and have reduced their IT staff from 3 to one full time tech. That says alot right there. Apple is doing something right. |
50 shiny Lions
When did mac fan boys become new Jehovah witnesses, did it happen at a time of learning new secret gestures? |

Also, Lion is a failure of an operating system. As for the whole mac vs PC argument, they're the same thing. The only difference between them at this point is the operating system which is a moot point because there are efi bootloaders out that allow you to install OSX distros on non-apple hardware. http://cache.gawkerassets.com/assets...i9_topcomp.jpg |
What makes Lion a failure?

With that said, if you like Mac, good for you. If you like Windows, good for you. This "mac sucks, pc sucks" shit is getting fucking old. |
i know people who work at Apple stores, chat with some nightly.
The stories of morons who go in for service or to shop are just... can write a book. Seems like most of the Apple customers are really clueless about everything, they just point and click. Many also seem to be quite the elitist types as well- my friends seem to agree that's a large majority of the people they see daily just judging by the way they get treated. However, interestingly none of them deny, even agree their company is full of shit. They seem to be suffering from hardware problems a lot too, and customers are placated immediately as much as possible to keep them from complaining too much. And yes they were told to not bring up that malware problem from a few weeks back under threat of immediate firing on the spot, if a customer were to bring it up they were to deflect- change subject or not respond at all. |

On the other hand Android is doing pretty well, Apple is losing market share or gaining something like 1% whereas Android is growing in double or triple digits. Personally i think it's a shit OS having used one, but I've gone from constantly seeing people walking around with iPhones to people with Androids, everywhere. Even at retail stores that sell cell phones, the sales people would often push Androids on customers almost all the time. When I rarely set foot in BestBuy people are all huddled fiddling with the droids while the iPhone is sitting off to the site ignored. |
Apple is KILLING Windows in the home market. It's a better OS and now with a $29.95 upgrade price point compared to $100 to $300 for windows.
Add to that version which is a dream come true if you are working on graphics or images. And BTW I'm a PC user I have two PC's But I want to move everything I can to OSX and the Mac. I'll have a windows PC also but really apple is so much better at this point if you can afford the price difference. And that no small part due to the OS being matched to the hardware. Like the above user said. And remember OSX is basically Apples flavor of UNIX. |
