I'm with you on this, Tiesto has completely changed...

Recently i found beatport.com, maybe you can find a new style of music to listen to, you can listen to the top 10 tracks from each genre..

Eric Prydz rocks...
btw Tiesto is coming here next month so we are going to check it out. I've been to his shows 3 times already or so. It gets worse every time, but the tickets are very cheap so its ok :)

Also I'm starting to like House more then Trance, we've been to Sensation White a few months ago and it kicked ass.

Dub step is getting redic tho. I was listening to it back in 06, now its popular as hell and everyone thinks some pitched and bent bass lines are considered Dub...hopefully it doesnt follow the same route as DnB

you picked up dubstep in '06 too? :) good year. its mainstream success was inevitable and slowly it's becoming the new trance.

Headed to DanceValley this weekend where Above and Beyond host the trance area.
There's still a ton of proper trance artists out there to enjoy, here's some examples for ya:

Above & Beyond

Super 8 & Tab

John O' Callaghan

Scot Project

Organ Donors!!!

Agreed times and styles are changing, I myself incorporate a lot more a lot more tech house in my sets these days, but always end up builing up to some epic trance bangers.

And this tune has not left my car for months, ZOOM ZOOM!
Luca Antolini

i really hated trance, i thought it was the worst electronic music ever. Then this new, boring house music became popular and it took my personal no1 spot for worst ever.
Funny that tiesto just follows the most horrible music styles ever made.. lol.
if only house was like it was in the 90's...

Agreed, Dubstep has been creeping into everything for years now, I remember listening to it when it was still a baby and now its starting to become tiresome with everyone thinking they are a Dubstep DJ.

Actually whoever does not like the above track does not like Trance, maybe he like some other style that was released later. I do remember it so it is different from younger guys who was not there and remember something else associated with Trance word.

I remember in 1995 (16 years ago, the web not yet used outside few universities) some of my friends started to say that Trance it was dead, and that new music it was crap. New tracks are out today as there are new rock n roll or classical music tracks out, how many people buy and listen this it is another matter. I am in Europe and I have no idea what americans listened at the time.

I still go time to time to trance events despite I am a granny and I can tell young guys of today does not break dance wawin poppin like we used to do (and I still do altough a little like crap the robot in me it is out of order).

In 1995, this is what we listened too in that scene...

My first site was in 1994, and it was a commercial site, so you are a off on what was on the web back in the day. I was an original B Boy from Philly, the Robot was something from the 70's.

How about some DeadMau5 remixed by Skrillex? Even better!

LOL this thread make me feel very very old and I am just 36.
I searched in youtube for some events where I was present, amazingly I found a few and I remember them very well I even cry I recognize some friends.

The West riserva indiana 1995 and 1997:

https://youtube.com/watch?v=3_NGvtdNX7M
https://youtube.com/watch?v=9u5m9Vlx4bU

These was epic and done once a year in Italy until early 2001 or 2002 - I missed no one of these, then they simply stopped as new generations was for other stuff there.
There was also some radio all about this music and these gone all in late 1990's. In germany it lasted longer :)

Scott McD 08-03-2011 01:41 PM

I was at this event in Holland.

Still one of my all time faves. And this is possibly my fave track even still!

(embedding bullshit)

2mins 9secs into that still gives me goosebumps...

Eh, there's lots of different types of trance. 2000ish Tiesto trance isn't really that cool anymore. More progressive and experimental types of trance are still alive and well.

The biggest dance/trance event we usually go to every year even changed it's name from 'Trance Energy' to just Energy' earlier this year.

Even Tiesto (who was basically everything that was good about trance) has given it up altogether. Probably did about 2 years ago infact. We've travelled all over the place to see him, and planned on checking him out in Vegas this year, but there's no point now since he's playing the same shitty house, electro music as most others out there.

The last twice we've seen him here were both let downs. Too much vocal funky shit.

Tiesto's words:

He's actually playing a big event here at the end of the month but we're not even going to that. Even Armin Van Buuren was shit a couple of months ago.

Yeah fuck you too! Goodbye :321GFY
