I read yesterday that much of the job growth in Texas really has little or nothing to do with Perry and his policies, but is more a byproduct of an increasing population (people moving their because cost of living is cheap) and the energy companies bleeding the rest of the nation dry. That said, beyond his being a fanatical religious person who feels the solution to our problems is to pray I don't know a lot about him or how good of a governor he really has been. |
ames straw pole winners:

Also add in the fact that Texas avoided the real-estate bust that decimated the economies of several large Sunbelt states, including California and Florida, during the 2008-2010 recession. It consequently was positioned for a faster takeoff once the national economy began improving, allowing it to create 251,700 new jobs in the past year alone. I guess everyone who prays for there country to prosper is now considered a "fanatical religious person"...interesting POV. |
Probably Rick Perry so he'll finally get the F*ck out of Texas.

http://www.dallasnews.com/news/polit...b-creation.ece In case you don't want to click the link here is what their fact check says: JOBS Perry: ?Since June of 2009, Texas is responsible for more than 40 percent of all of the new jobs created in America.? In context: There are questions about how much Perry and his policies are to credit for those job gains. Economists agree with Perry that a low state tax rate and limitations on lawsuits help foster business growth. But other factors, such as the state?s booming population and Texas? oil and gas resources, are also at work. Critics also note that many of the jobs created on Perry?s watch are low-paying and lack benefits. Here is some other stuff about him and the economy in Texas http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/...20091874.shtml A few interesting points. For all its job growth the Texas unemployment rate is still right there with the national average. Even with all this job creation the state still has a huge budget shortage so he cute healthcare for the poor and laid off 49,000 teachers. As for his praying. During a dry spell he asked the people of Texas to take three days to pray for rain. He recently held a huge religious rally where he had some 60,000 people gather at an arena and he led a religious ceremony. I have always felt like this: If you want to be religious, no problem. However, don't bug me with it. Also, keep it out of the government. This guy is so religious it seems to be such a part of the fiber of his being he won't be able to separate them and anyone that fanatical tends to scare me because they are either A. Faking it and using it to get elected or B. They are legit and want to turn to prayer instead of logic to lead. When you look at third world countries what do almost all of them have in common? Most of their jobs are low paying service industry jobs where nobody really creates anything, they just pass the same money back and forth between each other and they have rabidly religious leaders. Perry just gives me that third world country leader vibe. |
america is doomed. obama knows what he has to do but he's handcuffed by campaign money and the republicans, and the republican candidates are just outright deranged or diabolical.
maybe large scale riots will shake things up a bit. |

It will effect us here in the UK and other countries in the world, but we have no vote.
I would support the American people taking power in a direct democracy, none of this one vote every 4 year con |

8 Years of Bush/Cheney = where we are today.
Rick Perry is a continuation of Bush/Cheney. Do the math. The Republitards have had a one-point agenda - make Obama look bad, so they can reclaim the White House so they can destroy America''s middle class further. Some of these douche bags aren't even going to attend the President's speech tonight! Talk about anti-American assholes! The idea of voting corporate-owned right-wing losers back in, after they spent 4 years giving America the finger by spending all of their time trying to destroy Obama, rather than build America back up, is preposterous! |
Ron Paul is the only vote I will be casting.

I picked Obama in the poll but voting is pointless now at least in the US. I cannot speak for other countries |
I think it's gonna be Obama vs Romney in the end, maybe Romney/Bachmann or Romney/Pawlenty...
http://www.startribune.com/politics/...129694413.html Perry will probably be picked off by the end, which is unfortunate for Obama supporters. |
Where's the "They're all equally full of shit, not voting" option?
This poll is rigged. |

Rubio could bring some extra latino votes, but I think the Tea Party loonies will be more important this time around, as that's where the right wing energy seems to be. |

Romney is a mormon. Romney has the Obamneycare stigma attached to him. and well, Bachman is a loony. That doesn't make Perry any less of a loon, but he seems to be pandering well to his base. |

It's starting to look more like Obama or Romney, as Perry continues his downward spiral.

I was in the hospital recovering from surgery in 2008. Only election I have missed.
I will vote for the person I think is best for the job. |
i hate politics

Obama...

Obama~
for sure. |
Well, I wont vote for obama. I hate that uncle tom. He's the worst thing that ever could have happened to the dems at this time in history.
I can't vote for any republican likely to get the nom. They have no policy and no ideas, beyond some vague nostalgic wish to go back to the 50's or the 1920s, and ignore or banish science and technology. If Ron Paul ran I would be highly tempted to vote for him, just to say fuck you to both parties, even tho a Paul presidency would start out in deadlock and end in hilarity. It would just feel so good to say fuck you to the neocons and the neolibs. I will vote either green or libertarian. Neither can govern, both are equally throwaway. Because of my location and the quirks of the electoral college system, it makes no difference who I vote for. |
Since it really makes no difference, I am going to vote for whoever is left that will create my own personal ammusement
